Burnley returned to the Championship’s summit thanks to a 2-1 win over Norwich City at Turf Moor, with Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony securing the goals required in the first half.
The duo put Burnley in control after just 24 minutes, with Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team unable to fight back in the second half in spite of Jack Stacey’s consolation. Scott Parker’s side started the day second but have reclaimed their place.

It leaves them three clear at the top ahead of Leeds United playing Preston North End and Sheffield United’s trip to Plymouth Argyle, after Mejbri set them away to win with his first goal for the side.
Pundits predicted Burnley to bounce back after dropped points against Derby County in midweek, although some experts are concerned about Burnley’s long-term Premier League hopes. The focus is now on the final four games of the run-in.

Hannibal Mejbri’s celebration amuses Burnley fans against Norwich City
Burnley’s run-in appears to be difficult but experts believed they are in their best season form heading into the clash. It wasn’t their best display but they are at the stage of the season where they must find a way to get over the line by any means necessary.
Many have backed the January signing of Marcus Edwards to fire them to promotion, but he was not involved in the game like some of his attacking teammates. Mebri notched his first for the club, sparking an interesting celebration against the Canaries.
The Tunisian midfielder has seven yellow cards and one red in 33 Championship matches for the Clarets. That is 17 yellows in 71 games at second tier level already. His aggression and bite is part of his game, and is why he held back during his celebration to the amusement of Burnley fans.
One added: “It’s a brilliant goal but the best part is Hannibal going to take his shirt off but realising he’ll probably get a yellow later, so thought he’d better not.”
Other fans pointed out that Mejbri was taking inspiration from NBA star Ja Morant, making the moment even more of a show of the midfielder’s personality. Another fan said: “The cele has finished me Ja Morant what have you gone and done.”
It wasn’t for everyone, though. Another reaction said: “This goal should be disallowed for the terrible celebration….”

What the Sky Sports pundits said about Hannibal Mejbri after display against Norwich City
The Sky Sports studio also reacted to Mejbri’s Championship player of the match performance, with Chris Iwelumo stating: “There’s confidence there, you can see that. They all know what they’re about, they all pull in for each other, they all help each other, and that’s what it takes.
“The confidence there. One goal. You know, he should have a lot more goals, if you want to be overly critical. With what he brings — he’s got that sort of nasty side to him; he can tackle and be aggressive.
“But he was in the mood tonight. I’ve seen that in flashes. I want to see that more consistently because he has all the attributes.”
David Prutton added: “A real cameo of what he can be. Sometimes toes the line towards needless bookings, Rob, but he’s an effective player in the heart of the midfield for Burnley, isn’t he?”
Rob Green said: “Yeah, he’s got something of an uncoachable quality about him. He brings something different. Especially when you’re looking at this Burnley team for something out of the ordinary.
“When they struggle for something special, he can do that. He’s a character and you want that on the pitch. You want him to go out and do his thing because he makes that difference.”
