Sheffield Wednesday fans are ‘lost for words’ as the Owls release ‘awful’ away shirt

What is there left to be said about Sheffield Wednesday this summer?

Supporters, players and staff have been left in the dark over the course of the last few months as Dejphon Chansiri continues to take charge of the club, despite slashing the price of the Owls by £50m.

John Textor may rescue the South Yorkshire outfit, but after a previous takeover bid involving another party stalled, fans have been in this position far too many times already.

Sheffield Wednesday have already been criticised for their home kit, and with their first game of the season coming away from home against Leicester City, their away shirt has been unveiled. However, there has been very little positivity at the announcement.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters are not happy with their new away kit

Amid a summer of frustration, the idea of actually playing a game of football has perhaps been forgotten about. Yet, on Sunday, the Owls will return to action.

With Leicester playing in blue, Sheffield Wednesday will have to be in their away kit but fans are not exactly happy with it.

Another supporter wrote: “Shocking. Now sell the club.”

While a third said: “Awful kit. The colours totally clash.”

“Fair enough lads, worst set of shirts for the worst season in the club’s history,” a fifth Sheffield Wednesday fan put.

As one more wrote: “Fellas, how hard is it to get just one thing right this summer?”

It’s just another frustration for Owls fans

While the situation with the kit is not the greatest problem that the Owls have right now, there is no denying that it is just a symptom of the myriad of issues facing the club.

Fans are leading a boycott of purchasing the shirts until Chansiri sells up, but judging by their reactions, there may not be many buying either the home or away jersey.

Wednesday have a very limited squad for their season opener, and Henrik Pedersen has his work cut out if he is going to find a way to pick up what would be a very valuable and surprising point at the King Power Stadium.

OPTA have predicted the Owls to finish in mid-table in 2025/26, but at this moment in time, anything above 21st would be a huge bonus.
