Sheffield Wednesday somehow managed to come back from two goals down to defeat Norwich City tonight, and one player stood head and shoulders above the rest.
Norwich City’s home record is mighty impressive, so it was no wonder that many expected them to pick up a result at Carrow Road against an inconsistent Sheffield Wednesday outfit.
However, Danny Rohl did warn Norwich that the Owls were feeling full of confidence and were ready to spoil the fun in Norfolk this week.
Goals from Borja Sainz and Ante Crnac put Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side in control at half-time, but Wednesday came out flying after the break and broke Norwich hearts thanks to goals from Michael Ihiekwe, Josh Windass, and a dramatic winner from Djeidi Gassama.
The win takes the Owls above Norwich in the Championship table now, and with nine games to go, they are just five points off the top six, keeping play-off dreams firmly alive.

Josh Windass is the gamechanger for Sheffield Wednesday
The Wednesday fans have rightly been praising a number of players, and of course, the gaffer, Danny Rohl, after masterminding such an important and exciting win.
But, it is that man Josh Windass who has stepped up and delivered once again, and he’s got the supporters absolutely raving on Twitter/X after the game.
One fan wrote: “I never want to see a negative comment about Windass again. He took this game by the scruff of the neck.”
Another added, “Windass is ridiculously underrated,” while a third commended the 31-year-old for showing “great spirit” to help his team back into the game.
Fans also showed some love to Nathaniel Chalobah, who hasn’t had the easiest of seasons with the Owls due to injury issues.
One supporter replied, “All hail Chalobah. Ran that second half,” while another added, “Chalobah was incredible.”
Sheffield Wednesday reporter, Joe Crann, added: “How good has Nathaniel Chalobah been since coming on? Game-changing performance from him.”
However, a lot of credit must go to Rohl for turning that one around, with one fan posting: “Rohl half time talk easily man of the match.” To be a fly on the wall in that dressing room after 45 minutes and then again at 90 minutes!

Josh Windass has been an incredible servant for Sheffield Wednesday
That is yet another massive performance from Josh Windass, who must surely now go down as a Sheffield Wednesday legend. 173 appearances and counting, more than 50 goals for the club, and the architect of some of the Owls’ biggest, most exciting moments in recent history.
From his play-off winning goal against Barnsley, to that unbelievable goal from inside his own half against Derby County this season, Windass has quite the catalogue of memories from his time in S6.
He may be a nonchalant player, but there is no doubting Windass’ ability. And, what’s more, slowly but surely, you can see his passion for Sheffield Wednesday seeping out of that cool exterior.
Windass has carried this club through the dire straits of League One football and is taking them back to the upper echelons of the Championship finally.
There’s still a long way to go, and even after this impressive win, Wednesday are only an outside bet for the play-offs. But, you have to feel that if they are to do it, Windass will be at the heart of it all as always.
