Sheffield Wednesday were satisfied with their 12th-place finish in the Championship, but major issues needing to be resolved this summer do not inspire confidence in improving as a club in 2025/26.
The biggest of those involves talented manager Danny Rohl, who looks set to leave Sheffield Wednesday after doing a fantastic job at Hillsborough.
Crystal Palace and Fulham are eyeing Rohl, suggesting the German could be on his way to the Premier League, while the Owls prepare to find his replacement.
That will fall into the hands of Dejphon Chansiri, the much-maligned Wednesday owner, whose questionable decision-making and financial mismanagement has cost the club.
Chansiri failed to pay his Wednesday staff and players during March due to reported cash flow problems, and now the club have scooped an award that has left supporters in complete disbelief.

Sheffield Wednesday fans react to club winning Family Excellence award
It was announced on Saturday that Sheffield Wednesday have won the EFL’s Family Excellence award. The assessment ranges from purchasing tickets right through to the moment families leave the stadium on matchday.
Assessors consider the quality of matchday activations and experience, but supporters found irony in their club winning this award.
Wednesday fans have blasted the club for their ticket pricing previously, and the Owls are known for selling some of the most expensive season tickets in the Championship.
Reacting to this update via X, fans were understandably shocked at this news, with one supporter writing: “How on earth have we been awarded that? Everything connected to Wednesday since Chansiri has been here has been a rip off.”
“I’m shocked. Clearly ticket pricing, food & drink pricing & toilet hygiene (often flooded toilets, no running tap water, no hand towels) are not part of the criteria then?” another questioned while a third wrote: “Laughable.”
“Well it’s not for the prices is it,” someone else pointed out while a sixth replied: “The families being priced out?”
“Must be the excellent family pricing we offer,” another ironically posted.
Sheffield Wednesday’s ridiculous season ticket prices
Fans were right to be in shock at how they won this award, as during the 2024/25 campaign, Sheffield Wednesday offered the second most expensive adult season ticket in the Championship, with their cheapest coming in at £560.
The only club to offer a more expensive cheapest season ticket was Middlesbrough, who charged supporters a whopping £574 to view 23 matches across the season.
Norwich City were third on the list at £545.50 while arch rivals Sheffield United came in at £513, telling of how Chansiri has priced out some loyal fans.
That is why one of several reasons why fans want the Malaysian to sell the club amid reports of a new takeover happening.
