Sheffield Wednesday fans plot biggest Dejphon Chansiri protest yet for Coventry City clash

A section of Sheffield Wednesday supporters have decided to crank up the pressure on owner Dejphon Chansiri by planning a pitch invasion.

The Owls have conducted numerous demonstrations designed to draw media attention to the club’s ongoing issues under the Thai businessman and put pressure on him to sell up, with Wednesday recently put under a double transfer embargo to add to their existing woes.

Sheffield Wednesday encouraged fans to boycott Grimsby Town’s visit to Hillsborough in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and while EFL Analysis confirmed the boycott is hurting Chansiri’s pockets, some supporters have felt protest efforts need to become more disruptive.

Now, a section of Owls have launched a new social media page dedicated to plotting to pitch invade in next month’s game against Coventry City.

Sheffield Wednesday fans launch new plan to pitch invade against Coventry City

Taking to X on Wednesday evening, new page Owls On The Pitch posted: “They say it has to be done anonymously so that’s what we’ll do. On The Pitch. 04/10/25. Coventry (H).”

The group later explained that the game against the Sky Blues will be the ultimate game to storm the pitch due to Sky Sports picking it as one of their live games.

A second post on Thursday read: “Push the message, let everybody know. Change your headers and post this pic.”

Details of the minute the pitch invasion will happen or any further details are yet to be released, but the group has said they will be announced in due course.

Reading supporters point out success of pitch invasion in protest against Dai Yongge

League One outfit Reading’s fans executed a pitch invasion in a protest effort against former owner Dai Yongge.

The Royals’ nightmares under the Chinese businessman ended in May, with him selling the club, the ground and their training ground to Rob Couhig.

One Reading fan that saw Wednesday fans’ announcement of a potential pitch invasion said in reply to the idea: “For any SWFC worried about a points deductions or any bans, we got neither at Reading from this, so do it and help get the clown out.”

Wednesday face Portsmouth away at Fratton Park this weekend.
