Things are getting really interesting in the second tier now with the table taking shape, so let’s take a look at our latest Championship score predictions for the next round of games.
Last weekend in the Championship, Ipswich Town hammered Sheffield United 5-0, leading to Ruben Selles losing his job. Now, Chris Wilder is back with his beloved Blades and is ready to turn things around.

Elsewhere, Stoke City stunned Birmingham City to close the gap on Middlesbrough at the top of the league. Bristol City also picked up another win to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Meanwhile, the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Wrexham lost yet again.
Now, we look ahead to gameweek 6 and EFL Analysis experts Jakob Barnes, Adam Elliott, and Callum Boyle share their Championship score predictions.

Championship score predictions: Gameweek 6
Middlesbrough vs West Brom
It’s all changed at Middlesbrough and West Brom in the managerial dugouts, but Boro did the double over the Baggies last season. Both sides have also started the season well, albeit West Brom were left frustrated against Derby County last time out. The Rob Edwards run could continue under the Riverside lights but a low-margin game feels like the most likely outcome here.
Adam’s score prediction: Middlesbrough 1-1 West Brom
QPR vs Stoke City
Two sides that were good value for their wins last weekend. QPR have really recovered since that Coventry City hammering and have been aided by the goals of Richard Kone. Mark Robins has got this Stoke City side ticking early doors and they look defensively sound. I can see these two cancelling each other out.
Callum’s score prediction: QPR 1-1 Stoke City
Birmingham City vs Swansea City
Before the season began, this would be one of the easier Championship score predictions to pin down. However, Birmingham City are not looking as sharp as we expected and Swansea are thriving under Alan Sheehan. There’s no way the Blues can be as disappointing as last weekend, and they have to improve in front of their home fans. This will be a tight one, and points will be split.
Jakob’s score prediction: Birmingham City 1-1 Swansea City
Leicester City vs Coventry City
This is a huge fixture among our Championship score predictions this week, and not just with the M69 Derby factor added in. Both Coventry City and Leicester City have designs on promotion and more than just bragging rights are on offer. The Foxes have won their two home games but Frank Lampard’s side are unbeaten. Cagey? Or will a statement be sent to the rest of the division? Home advantage will be the key here.
Adam’s score prediction: Leicester City 3-1 Coventry City
Blackburn Rovers vs Ipswich Town
The Sammie Szmodics derby. Ipswich Town silenced a lot of doubters last week with their thumping victory against Sheffield United. That will be a big boost and their confidence will be sky high. Blackburn Rovers got a good win against Watford last week but this is a step up in quality that will prove to be too much.
Callum’s score prediction: Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Ipswich Town
Derby County vs Preston North End
Somehow, Derby County managed to snatch all three points against West Brom last weekend. That was despite barely having any touches in the opposition box and having just the one shot on target (as per BBC Sport). Preston have surprised us all this season so far, and while they bagged two goals against Boro last week, I can see this one being a rather drab affair in front of goal.
Jakob’s score prediction: Derby County 0-0 Preston North End

Hull City vs Southampton
Southampton simply haven’t got motoring yet, but Hull City have barely left the starting blocks themselves. Will Still’s Saints have become draw specialists thus far and one win in five is a disappointment with the squad at his disposal. Sergej Jakirovic is also in need of a result of some kind, but the Saints could really kickstart their campaign here.
Adam’s score prediction: Hull City 1-3 Southampton
Portsmouth vs Sheffield Wednesday
Portsmouth were the happier of the two from the South Coast derby, and John Mousinho is doing a grand job at Fratton Park. We all know about the issues facing the Owls and while playing away from home definitely suits Sheffield Wednesday more, I think this is a win for Portsmouth.
Callum’s score prediction: Portsmouth 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield United vs Charlton Athletic
The Blades may be rock bottom of the Championship and still searching for their first win, but with a passionate Chris Wilder back at the helm it’s almost inevitable that they’ll secure a victory this weekend. Charlton Athletic have been fairly impressive, but with a Bramall Lane crowd getting behind their returning hero, this could and should be a comfortable win.
Jakob’s score prediction: Sheffield United 3-1 Charlton Athletic
Norwich City vs Wrexham
Norwich City and Wrexham have conceded the most xG in the division, so you’d be forgiven for expecting goals in this one. Liam Manning has not struck the balance in terms of scoring and being resolute at the back, but the Canaries have a fantastic squad individually, as underlined by Mathias Kvistgaarden scoring his first goal last weekend. I think they have the individuals to make the difference here.
Adam’s score prediction: Norwich City 4-1 Wrexham
Bristol City vs Oxford United
Bristol City seem like one of those sides that are more likely to pick up results against the ‘better’ teams in this league. Anis Mehmeti was excellent against Sheffield Wednesday last week, and at Ashton Gate the Robins will be expected to control possession. Oxford’s battling point against Leicester City shows they have plenty about them and more than enough to compete. This feels like a draw to me.
Callum’s score prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Oxford United
Millwall vs Watford
Our Championship score predictions are working overtime this week as we have a Monday night game to think about. Millwall have been the slightly better team so far this season and they certainly have the most potential, while Watford are a team that I just don’t fancy to do well long-term. With a home crowd behind them and the way that Alex Neil sets up his team, the Lions will have enough to get the three points here.
Jakob’s score prediction: Millwall 1-0 Watford
