Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to the latest news regarding the club’s potential takeover.

Following a mixed 2024/25 season, Sheffield Wednesday fans have been given some hope of a brighter future.

Turki Alalshikh has been told to buy Sheffield Wednesday as the Saudi billionaire looks at the prospect of purchasing an English football club.

Dejphon Chansiri could lose £56m if he opts to sell the Owls, who he bought all the way back in 2015.

A takeover from America or Saudi Arabia has been mooted in recent weeks, and there has now been a big update on the situation.

Now, journalist Joe Crann has taken to social media to say that an offer to buy the club has been rejected.

It’s understood to have come from a Florida-based consortium, with Chansiri turning it down.

The news, as you would expect, has not gone down with Sheffield Wednesday fans, who have taken to X/Twitter to make their feelings very clear.

One fan wrote: “He’s never gonna leave is he.”

A second replied: “No one wants you here anymore DC, take the money and leave.”

“He is an absolute joke. He’s never going to make his money back, he needs to realise we’re not worth as much as he’s asking for. Cut your losses and give us our club back, Chansiri,” a third stated.

Another Sheffield Wednesday fan demanded: “Take the money and go! You won’t get what you are asking for, and it’s your fault you won’t!”

A fifth tweeted: “We don’t want you at our club anymore, just sell and —- —.”

While another supporter added: “Genuinely fear for the future of our club now. Chansiri could well live to regret this by Christmas when we are at the bottom end of the table and our valuation takes a further hit.”

Sheffield Wednesday fans set for another tough season

It’s become clear that even after suggesting he was open to a sale, Chansiri isn’t that keen to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.

The 2025/26 season kicks off in August, and the longer a potential takeover takes to happen, the less time the new owners will have to prepare for the new season.

On top of the ownership issues, Danny Rohl’s future remains very much up in the air.

Elsewhere, key player Josh Windass has been backed to leave amid interest from La Liga side Valencia.
