Reports have emerged of a ‘positive’ update regarding Sheffield Wednesday’s situation and Dejphon Chansiri’s ability to pay players.

Sheffield Wednesday continue to face waves of turmoil under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri.

Whilst it has been a positive start to the season given the circumstances that Sheffield Wednesday find themselves in, with Henrik Pedersen’s side reaching the EFL Cup third round after a win against Leeds United, the failed ownership of Chansiri continues to cast a cloud on the dire situation.

Whilst reports suggest that John Textor is interested in Sheffield Wednesday, there is uncertainty as to whether Chansiri wishes to sell the club or not.

Concerns in S6 sparked after a summer filled with issues, which saw Sheffield Wednesday players and staff have their wages delayed on a number of occasions, whilst the North Stand was condemned for safety reasons, something that was rectified only days before the first home game of the season.

As the deadline for yet another payday looms for Sheffield Wednesday, positive reports have emerged as to whether it is expected that Chansiri will be able to pay his staff for the month.

Sheffield Wednesday handed ‘optimism’ ahead of payday

It has been reported, via Joe Crann on X, that there are ‘positive noises’ coming from S6 regarding the likelihood of staff receiving their pay for August.

There are ‘no guarantees’ at this stage, but Crann emphasises that there is ‘optimism as things stand’ that staff will receive what they are owed for the month.

Such reports have also been strengthened by BBC Sheffield reporter Rob Staton, who has made it clear that it ‘appears’ that the wages will be paid.

Dejphon Chansiri has failed to pay staff on time on three occasions this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday cannot be sustainable with wages uncertainty

Whilst it is positive news on this occasion for Sheffield Wednesday, who look likely to face no issues with wages for the upcoming month, the fact that this needs to be reported highlights the danger of such a situation at the club.

The club cannot be left in such a state of limbo; it is not sustainable and needs to be rectified.

Ultimately, these concerns will only disappear with a change of ownership, and that does not look too likely as things stand.
