Potential Dejphon Chansiri successor, John Textor, has been given a verdict by one EFL expert, who has found one ‘big issue’ with the American billionaire amid his interest in Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday have faced a catalogue of issues under the stewardship of Dejphon Chansiri, and whilst the club have issued clarity on the North Stand situation, there are still many things that have been left unresolved.
The Sheffield Wednesday supporters have turned on Chansiri, and many are set to take part in a protest against the current ownership in the first home game of the 2025/26 season against Stoke City.
Amid uncertainty on how long the Chansiri reign will continue, John Textor has been linked with a prospective attempt to take over Sheffield Wednesday.
The American has split opinion as to whether he would be an upgrade on Chansiri, and one EFL expert has given his opinion.

EFL expert gives verdict on John Textor amid Sheffield Wednesday links
John Textor’s interest in Sheffield Wednesday is genuine, as we previously revealed, although some Owls fans are not entirely convinced in the businessman taking the reins of Sheffield Wednesday over from Dejphon Chansiri.
Textor has had previous involvement with Premier League side Crystal Palace, French giants Lyon, and currently finds himself involved with Brazilian side Botafogo.
His spells elsewhere have proved controversial, and that is a reason why EFL expert Ryan Dilks is somewhat sceptical of the American taking over at Sheffield Wednesday.
“The thing I’ve always said though, is Sheffield Wednesday don’t want to be going from the dumpster fire to the bonfire,” said Dilks on the Second Tier Podcast.
“When a club is in a very vulnerable position like Wednesday are, there’s always going to be vultures circling around who, believe it or not, are not much better than Chansiri.
“If you dig far enough, you’ll probably find something you don’t like about every billionaire. John Texter’s got his flaws, which are a lot more public than most, but he’s also probably a lot better than others are.
“My big issue is more to do with multi-club ownership because I think we’re seeing more cases of that not working and one club ultimately being prioritised over others. That’s where my main concerns lie with him.”

A fresh start is needed in S6
Whether it is John Textor who eventually takes over from Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday, or an alternative option, one thing that is clear is that the Thai owner has no route back to regain the trust of the supporters.
The plague of concerns that have hit Sheffield Wednesday this summer have accumulated into an ugly situation at the club, and one that fans will be keen to end as soon as possible.
There is a risk involved with Textor taking over in S6, but at this point, Sheffield Wednesday fans will be keen for a fresh start with anyone new at the helm, so the summer can be put behind them and a rebuild can start sooner rather than later.
