Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust share plan B protest vs Wrexham, crucial aspect will ‘not be permitted’

Sheffield Wednesday’s upcoming action in their trip to Wrexham has been changed at the last minute after the Red Dragons refused one thing.

After a summer full of destruction in S6, Sheffield Wednesday fans continue to make their voices heard in opposition to Dejphon Chansiri.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters protested at Leicester City on the opening weekend of the Championship season, staging a ‘late to your seat’ initiative in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

That was followed up by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust asking fans to blow whistles in the first five minutes of the home clash against Stoke City.

Whilst no extensive action has been planned in the trip to Wrexham, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has still been denied from doing one thing, which has led to them having to conjure up a plan B.

Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust denied use of banner inside the Racecourse Ground

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has confirmed, via a statement on X, that the banner that had been previously used at Leicester City ‘will not be permitted’ against Wrexham.

The banner, which reads ‘SWFC for Sale – Enough is Enough’ has been banned under the grounds of it carrying ‘political connotations’.

However, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust have confirmed alternative plans, having said: “We’ve been advised that displaying the banners outside the stadium – including outside the turnstiles or along the route to the ground – is permitted, and you will not be challenged before entering.

“The staff we’ve dealt with have been friendly and helpful throughout, and have wished us well.

“We’d also like to thank the many Wrexham fans who have reached out in support.”

The Supporters’ Trust has continued to urge Sheffield Wednesday fans to wear black & gold shirts, both home and away and voice their displeasure towards Dejphon Chansiri.

Wrexham fans will sympathise with the Owls’ situation

Whilst it is disappointing that the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has been denied the opportunity to display its banner because of the ‘political connotations’, there is no doubt that the Wrexham fans will sympathise with the Owls.

As Leicester City did on the opening weekend, Wrexham fans will be keen to show their support and sympathy to Sheffield Wednesday for their concerns after what the Red Dragons have been through previously.

Wrexham have been on the brink of liquidation in the past, having raised £100,000 amongst the fanbase to keep the club afloat, and whilst they are enjoying a golden era right now under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, they will share the same displeasure towards unfit owners, as Sheffield Wednesday supporters do.
