Sheffield Wednesday fans have been urged to put further pressure on Dejphon Chansiri with one protest that would receive national media coverage.

Sheffield Wednesday fans continue to protest against Dejphon Chansiri after a chaotic summer for the Owls.

Whether it is the untimely departure of Danny Rohl, the mass exodus of key first-team players, the unpaid wages for staff, or the uncertainty with the state of the North Stand, Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been put through the wringer in recent months with several concerns plaguing the club.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has led protests in the away clash at Leicester City, which was then followed up by action taken at the home clash against Stoke City, where fans paraded a coffin through Hillsborough Park ahead of kick-off.

As Wednesday fans look to put further pressure on Chansiri, they have been told one thing that will hit the national news.

Sheffield Wednesday fans told that boycott will significantly harm Dejphon Chansiri

Following the successful protests against Leicester City and Stoke City, no specific action is expected in the away clash against Wrexham, although the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust has asked for fans to continue vocalising their displeasure towards Dejphon Chansiri, wearing black & gold Owls shirts.

The next major action taken by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust is their hope that fans will boycott the EFL Cup tie vs Leeds United.

Alongside the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust, the 1867 Group is also keen to stage a ‘teddy bear protest’.

EFL expert Justin Peach, via the Second Tier Podcast, has discussed the upcoming action set to be taken by Sheffield Wednesday fans, having said: “The biggest thing that will put pressure on Chansiri to sell is when the national news is talking about Sheffield Wednesday. The main thing that’s going to put Sheffield Wednesday in the national news is unique protests like a teddy bear protest, but also wages not being paid as well.

“If the club is not getting money from ticket sales or anything like that, they won’t be able to pay the wages going forward. So boycotts are the way to go in my eyes.

“I know a lot of people will have already bought season tickets; that’s fine, but the more people who boycott, the more impactful it will be.”

Leeds United boycott would put significant pressure on Dejphon Chansiri

Sheffield Wednesday fans are famed for their fantastic support, and would always be expected to arrive in their numbers, especially for a Yorkshire derby.

Last season saw 28,800 pack out Hillsborough Stadium as Sheffield Wednesday welcomed Leeds in the Championship, and 30,032 attended in the 2023/24 campaign.

It is unknown how many are set to take part in the protest at this stage, but if enough Wednesday fans stay clear of the game, it would send a stark message to Dejphon Chansiri, one that would definitely be picked up by the national media.

The supporters need to be united, now more than ever, and a mass boycott of the game would show that the fans have had enough.
