Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are close to Championship title glory, but even lifting the trophy may not be enough to save the German coach’s job.

Leeds have already secured promotion to the Premier League, and a victory over League One-bound Plymouth Argyle on Saturday would see them clinch the title, edging out Burnley, with whom they are tied on 97 points.

Yet despite their triumph, Daniel Farke’s future remains doubtful, even winning the league may not be enough to save his job.

Despite one impressive Elland Road statistic that highlights Leeds United’s key to success under Daniel Farke, one pundit believes his time could be.

Simon Jordan tells Leeds to sack Daniel Farke despite promotion hopes

After the news appeared that the Leeds hierarchy was considering a managerial switch this summer, doubts began to rise about his long-term suitability.

And Simon Jordan has weighed in on the situation.

“If the owners think it’s the right thing [then Leeds should sack Farke],” Jordan said on talkSPORT.

“His job was to get Leeds promoted, that’s what he was brought in to do.

Simon Jordan believes Farke’s job may not be safe, via talkSPORT.

“He was given the prerequisite tools, and he probably has one of the biggest budgets in the division… so with respect, I know it sounds a bit harsh, but he did the job that he was brought in to do.

“Those were the standards he was set, and that was the task he was asked to perform and the job he took.

“In the same way that the Bournemouth owner thought that Gary O’Neil wasn’t the right fit… I’m pretty sure there would have been some dissenting voices… at Bournemouth, but they’re not dissenting now, are they?

“The Leeds owners will have the same ideals as the fans which is that we want the best version of the football club, but we want it in the Premier League.

“When owners make those sorts of decisions, by all means, castigate them, but if these guys think that the best version of Leeds is not with Daniel Farke, he will depart with a nice paycheck, and a big reputation and go again.

“The Leeds fans have to accept that owners often make decisions because they think it’s the right thing to do for the football club.”

Daniel Farke’s managerial credentials – is he up to the job?

Farke’s managerial career began with SV Lippstadt 08, reaching promotion through the lower leagues.

He then managed Borussia Dortmund II before moving to Norwich City in 2017.

At The Canaries, he twice won the Championship title, securing promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and 2021, although both Premier League seasons resulted in relegation.

In September 2021, Farke lost his 15th consecutive Premier League game in charge of Norwich, a record for a club or a manager in English top-flight history.

On 6 November, Norwich documented their first league win of the season with a 2–1 away victory over Brentford.

However, on the same day Farke was dismissed after the game and later replaced by former Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith on 15 November 2021.

He finished with a record of 87 wins, 49 draws and 72 losses.

After a short spell at Krasnodar and a season with Borussia Monchengladbach, he joined Leeds United in 2023.

He has since led Leeds to promotion this season, excelling past the stats and records of Leeds’ managerial legend Marcelo Bielsa.
