Watford hosting Plymouth Argyle at Vicarage Road will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports Main Event on Saturday lunchtime.
It’s a fixture with implications at the top and bottom of the division, with Watford hoping to apply pressure on those above them in the play-off picture and Plymouth looking to close the gap on the relegation threatened sides in the run-in.

The run-in for the play-off teams will likely be dictated by games against one another, but Tom Cleverley’s men must ensure victory in the fixtures against those at the bottom end of the division, including Miron Muslic’s side.
The business end of the season can cough up all sorts of strange and unpredictable results, with relegation battlers desperate to survive the drop from the Championship to League One.

David Prutton makes Watford vs Plymouth Argyle score prediction
We exclusively revealed that Tom Cleverley has a target of the play-offs for next season, or he faces losing his job at Vicarage Road. That’s despite the Watford boss setting records this season. Plymouth do not care much for setting records but know the importance of Saturday.
David Prutton will be in the studio to cover the game at lunchtime, with the Sky pundit having his say on the match when speaking to Simeon Gholam on Sky’s Essential EFL podcast.
Gholam said: “This one is live on Sky Sports from 11am, kick-off is at 12.30pm. Watford head into the weekend five points off the play-offs, just one win in their last four, and this is a must-win if they are to have any hope of the top six, realistically.
“Speaking of must-win and hope, Plymouth are six adrift of safety after that heartbreaking defeat against Derby last time out. This is must-win for them as well, so this is the must-win derby. Just to keep any hope of their respective ambitions alive, is it not?”
Prutton responded: “Watford are five off the top six. There is a bit of traffic, isn’t there, between themselves and the play-off places? And, certainly, a bit of traffic between Plymouth and getting out of that. Six points from safety!
“No, there’s a lot to like about certain facets of what they’ve done this season, Plymouth. Sadly, at the moment, it looks like that might just be not enough.
“Whereas, for Watford — without damning them with faint praise, and I’m sure it’s a finger being pointed by many an opposition fan — but the fact they’ve got this far with the same manager is that success in itself? I genuinely don’t know.
“They have shown at times they can flirt with the top six. To think that they’ve got enough to get past West Brom and Coventry, plus Bristol City, Boro, and Blackburn, I think that’s quite dreamlike.”

Gholam added: “I think this is going to be a cracking game. Just because a point is useless to both, to be honest. They’ve got to go for it.”
Prutton replied: “Hopefully it’s carnage! Plymouth are very much kind of, if not in last chance saloon, about to walk through those flippy doors that you get in all these Westerns. So, like you say, they’re going to have to show the type of form that they’ve not shown for large patches of the season.
“That’s the great irony with being down there in the relegation places. You think, ‘oh, they just need to do this. Well, they’ve not shown it so far this season.’ Maybe they might meet a Watford side who can get to this stage of the season and take their foot off the pedal a little bit.
“It’s an intriguing one. Hopefully it’s an entertaining one. But, fundamentally, it’s must-win for both. Next door to the last chance saloon. 2-1 Watford.”

The 2025 form table doesn’t make for good reading for Watford or Plymouth
Giorgi Chakvetadze has Premier League quality, which could be the difference in a potentially tight game on Saturday between two sides that have struggled since the turn of the year.
| Position | Team | Played | Goal difference | Points |
| 17 | Middlesbrough | 14 | -1 | 17 |
| 18 | Watford | 15 | -6 | 15 |
| 19 | Plymouth Argyle | 15 | -8 | 15 |
| 20 | Blackburn Rovers | 15 | -4 | 14 |
| 21 | Stoke City | 14 | -6 | 14 |
Plymouth have occupied a position inside the bottom three for the last 21 matchdays in a row, and 25 in total across the campaign.
They will also be without Maksym Talovierov for the rest of the season. It’s another big blow but optimism has been low at Plymouth for a while now.

| 24 | 38 | 7 | 12 | 19 | 40 | 77 | -37 | 33 |
In many ways, despite Watford’s form, it feels like it is there for the taking for Cleverley and co. Anything less than victory will all-but-end their faint play-off hopes.
