Birmingham City have been earning high praise as they prepare to make the step up to the Championship.
Birmingham City have won promotion out of the third tier at the first time of asking, doing so in style.
Birmingham set a League One record over the weekend, with their 105 points now the most of any side ever in the competiton’s history.
The Blues are not done just yet, however, with two games left of the season giving them a chance to set an EFL points record, which is currently held by Reading from their 2005/06 Championship season.
After dominating the third tier, Championship clubs are fearful of Birmingham, but they are already earning comparisons to one Premier League side.

Birmingham City compared to Ipswich Town
Birmingham have not been in the top flight for some time, but there are already expectations they will be returning to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
On this front, the Midlands outfit would need to ‘do an Ipswich’, who recently won back-to-back promotions from League One into the first tier.
The Tractor Boys are set to be back in the Championship come 2025/26, but it was still a remarkable achievement.
And now, speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast this week, Sam Parkin has compared Birmingham to Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich, but believe they are even better in a number of aspects,.
He said: “Really clever appointments, the manager very different style to how Wrexham have gone about it, slightly more akin to maybe what Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich were like, but even more control with the ball, even more kind of continental, even more Premier League.
“Not much deviates, really good players, a system that remains consistent.”
Birmingham City Championship prediction made
Before they can even start thinking about the top flight, the Blues must first navigate the very competitive Championship.
Birmingham could break their transfer record in the summer, which would no doubt go a long way to helping them compete at the top end.
But their squad is already stacked full of quality, and they should give a good account of themselves no matter what happens in the next few months.
One Sky Sports pundit predicts Birmingham to finish in the top six, which would be very impressive.
It would, however, leave them needing to overcome the play-offs to win promotion.
