West Brom fans have been waiting a long time for a new manager, but Ryan Mason is finally in, and Spurs supporters have nothing but good things to say about the young coach.

The Baggies parted ways with Tony Mowbray way back at the end of April, and have been searching for a new manager ever since.

The reason that search may have taken so long is now clear, with West Brom more than likely having waited for Ryan Mason to complete his task at Spurs before making his decision.

We broke the news last night that Mason was on the verge of joining West Brom, and it’s now been made official, prompting a swell of support from Tottenham fans for their departing coach.

Tottenham Hotspur fans tell West Brom they’ve ‘got a good one’ in Ryan Mason

The West Brom social media account has been very active in the last 24 hours, welcoming Mason to the club ahead of the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Naturally, Baggies fans are happy to have the head coach vacancy filled, but it’s the reaction of Tottenham Hotspur fans that should have them very excited.

One wrote, “Know that all Spurs fans will be supporting Albion from now on,” while another added, “You’ve got a good one lads.”

Going into more detail, one Spurs supporter said: “Great manager and person, good hands-on coach. He will develop your youth well and plays possession-based footy, though can dig in when needed. Top appointment.”

Elsewhere, the prospect of a good link with a Premier League club was mooted, with a Tottenham fan writing: “Good luck lads. We’ll be watching and supporting from afar, hopefully you get a few successful loans from us.”

That’s something we already thought about, of course, with our suggestions of some Spurs players Mason could bring to West Brom.

It sounds like good news for West Brom, then. One Spurs follower replied, “Every Baggie should be over the moon with this,” and another added, “WBA fans, expect attacking football and a few Tottenham academy boys on loan.”

Ryan Mason’s first words as West Brom boss

Speaking to the club’s official website for the first time, Mason shared his gratitude and excitement for getting his big chance as a manager, praising the structure in place at West Brom already.

He said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been appointed Head Coach of West Bromwich Albion. This is a huge club with a fantastic infrastructure and an incredible fan base and I am excited about what we can achieve together.

“Having spoken at length to the board and those at the club I am convinced that Albion is the perfect place for me to be and I can’t wait to get started.

“I will bring with me a huge amount of enthusiasm, dedication and ambition and look forward to a positive future together at such a fantastic club.”
