Swansea City have had a bizarre, yet remarkable summer.

Alan Sheehan made moves early in the window to get his team ready for the new Championship campaign, with a top six finish the target for the Swans this season.

Luka Modric is a minority shareholder at the club now, while Snoop Dogg is also on board in South Wales meaning that the side’s exposure has increased greatly.

However, more attacking prowess is still needed at Swansea, but Sheehan has warned supporters that new players may not be coming as soon as hoped.

Alan Sheehan opens up on Swansea City’s transfer plans

With all the off-field excitement, the Swans have started to put together a strong squad for the new campaign, but there may be a little bit of a wait now before more fresh faces come through the door.

Sheehan has tried to calm fans by telling them directly this news. He said (via: Wales Online): “I think you look at where we are. There will be people leaving the building and there will be people coming in, but I think it’s good to do your business quietly, and when the time is right, you guys will be the first to know.”

“I think you have to balance what you do. We’re in a position where we can’t go out and sign anybody. We’re competing in a very difficult market where clubs are able to pay more lucrative deals than us, so we have to be diligent.

“We have to understand the ones that we’re after and make sure they’re the right ones for the club — they’re the right character and they’re going to improve us.”

There’s still plenty of time for the Swans to make the moves that they need

Jerry Yates is well-liked by Blackpool, but he is holding out for a move to the Championship and players like this may well be a sticking point in Sheehan’s plans this summer.

However, with the transfer window not shutting until 1 September, there is still plenty of time for Swansea to identify new targets and make moves in the market that will help put them into a position where they can challenge for a play-off spot.

It’s a long season, and you cannot win or lose anything in July. But getting in a couple of names before the first game of the season will help ease the nerves of fans as the days tick down until we get underway for what is looking to be an exciting Championship campaign.
