Burnley look set to win Championship promotion at the first time of asking. Here is the earliest the Clarets can start planning for life back in the top flight.
2023/24 was a season to forget for Burnley, who ended the campaign with just five wins in 38 Premier League matches.
Manager Vincent Kompany, who had dominated the Championship the season prior, was then prised away from Turf Moor by Bayern Munich.
However, less than a year later, things are looking up for the Clarets and they took another big step toward promotion over the weekend.
Burnley beat Watford 2-1 in their Good Friday fixture, seeing them maintain second place in the division.
There are now three game weeks of 2024/25 left to play, with a clash versus Sheffield United up next for Scott Parker’s side.

The date Burnley can confirm Premier League promotion
Not too long ago, the Clarets seemed destined to be competing in the Championship play-offs in May.
However, while their rivals have stuttered, Parker and Co. have remained consistent and it is set to pay off.
Sheffield United have collapsed in recent weeks, and though the Blades did beat Cardiff City on April 18, it looks to be too little, too late for Chris Wilder’s men.
They have dropped down to third in the second tier and, after Good Friday, are five points adrift of second-place Burnley with a much worse goal difference.
As a result, if Burnley beat Sheffield United on Monday, they will have confirmed their promotion back to the Premier League.

When will promotion be confirmed if Burnley don’t beat Sheffield United
Should Burnley draw with the Yorkshire outfit next week, they will still have a five-point lead with two games to play.
That means they would need a win over QPR on April 26 to go up in the automatic spots alongside Leeds United.
A draw against the Hoops would also, realistically, be enough, given Burnley’s goal difference is 19 better right now.
Alternatively, if they were to lose Sheffield United, that would close the gap to just two points, meaning promotion would not be guaranteed until the final day versus Millwall unless Sheff Utd lose their following fixture and Parker’s men beat QPR.
