Tom Brady handed Birmingham City Premier League prediction by Sky Sports pundit, they have one advantage

Tom Brady’s Birmingham City are on course to secure promotion from League One this season, but they are still some way off the Premier League.

It’s been less than a year since Tom Brady made a promise to Birmingham City fans on the back of the club’s relegation from the Championship.

The Sky Blues are now playing in League One for the first time ever since the competition was rebranded in the early 2000s.

Their stint in the third tier is expected to be a very brief one, however, with Chris Davies’ men dominating the likes of Wrexham and Wycombe Wanderers to already all but confirm they will go up as champions.

But the Midlands outfit do not seem content to stop there, though, with Birmingham’s summer transfer plans suggesting they are going to be eyeing a second-straight promotion in 2025/26.

Birmingham City Premier League prediction made

EFL Analysis understands that Birmingham will be aggressive in the transfer market, and some clubs in the Championship are already fearful of them.

However, making the step up from the second tier of English football is much harder than winning promotion from League One.

Even with heavy backing, it’s unlikely the Blues will have the biggest transfer budget in the summer, especially given the sides dropping down from the Premier League receive parachute payments, while teams like Middlesbrough earned themselves plenty of money from players sales in recent years – netting £22.5m for Emmanuel Latte Lath alone in January.

Now, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has been asked if Birmingham, along with Wrexham, will reach the top flight in the next five years in an interview with Football League World.

While he admitted he has no idea about the prediction for the future, he did state both Brady’s club and the Red Dragons are in better financial shape than some clubs.

He said: “I have absolutely no idea! Five years ago we were walking round in masks and not able to talk to people, so who knows where we are going to be.

“These two teams… Birmingham are seemingly on course to get into the Championship, Wrexham are not too far behind, but nowhere near as certain at this moment in time.

“Both have as decent a chance as any other team they are going to come up against in the Championship. Both are on financially sound footing with the takeovers, both look to be ambitious, highly-motivated clubs. Show me a team who is not exactly the same as that in the Championship! Yes, some are in less sound financial states, some will have better players, some will have a deeper history at the very top level.

“So going into that, the prediction for future is that I have absolutely no idea, but they have as good a chance as any of the multitude of very good football clubs that stand between them and the Premier League right now.”

What happened last time Birmingham City were in the Premier League

Birmingham spent a lot of the early 2000s in the top tier of English football, but it has been some time since they graced the Premier League.

Their last campaign in the top flight came all the way back in the 2010/11 season.

They finished that campaign 18th, going down despite managing to secure 39 points.

It was not all doom and gloom that season, however, as Birmingham beat Arsenal to win the League Cup.
