Tom Wagner has been full of praise for Birmingham City manager Chris Davies this week, comparing him to a top Premier League boss.
After suffering relegation from the Championship, Birmingham City appointed Chris Davies as their new manager in June 2024.
Davies previously enjoyed a stint with Leicester City and had been working at Tottenham Hotspur before his move to the Midlands.
The manager has gone on to reinvigorate the Blues, seeing Birmingham set an EFL points record en route to winning the League One title.
Now, the club’s owner, Tom Wagner, has been waxing lyrical about Davies this week.

Tom Wagner compares Chris Davies to Pep Guardiola
The Midlands side have very big ambitions going into the 2025/26 Championship season.
Birmingham are targeting the Premier League and will spend a lot this summer to try and achieve that goal.
Now, in an interview with I News, Wagner has been discussing Davies and shared how he is similar to Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola.
He said: “The philosophy, culture and energy that Pep [Guardiola] has brought to Man City is something we think is fantastic.
“Certainly our manager Chris [Davies] is someone we think has a similar vigour. We believe he has the right mentality to incorporate a playing style that will last us a long period of time.”

Chris Davies Birmingham City record
Davies is now set for his toughest challenge yet, with Birmingham competing in the Championship against established second-tier teams and relegated Premier League outfits receiving parachute payments.
So far though, his record at St Andrew’s has been pretty remarkable since arriving just under a year ago.
Davies has taken charge of 60 matches as Birmingham manager. He’s won 44 of those games, losing nine and drawing seven.
The Blues have averaged 2.35 points per game under the 40-year-old, with an average 1.90 goals scored per match and 0.82 conceded.
