Birmingham City’s rise under Tom Wagner and Tom Brady is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Tom Brady’s message to Birmingham City fans last year has come true, with much to celebrate in 2024/25.

Birmingham broke an EFL record when they notched a staggering 111 points in League One to win the title and promotion back to the Championship.

There is now much excitement around the club going into next season, with a top-six Championship finish predicted by one pundit.

However, Birmingham are said to have started to draw the ire of some big teams across England.

Tom Wagner says why Birmingham City have angered ‘biggest clubs in England’

Tom Brady and Tom Wagner have been praised this week for the ‘incredible’ work they have done at Birmingham.

However, it appears not everyone in the footballing world is overly thrilled for the Midlands outfit.

We have previously reported that several Championship clubs fear Birmingham.

Now, the club recently held a title celebration evening at the International Convention Centre, where Wagner spoke.

When doing so, he shared that a consultant who is working on the club’s new stadium told him that Birmingham are ‘drawing the ire of some of the biggest clubs in England’.

He said, as per Birmingham World: “I was talking with one of our consultants who represents us in our project. I asked for some advice and he said, ‘I think you need to tone it down. Some of what you do isn’t in line with traditions here’.

“I replied, ‘Why do you say that? Because I don’t really care’. He said, ‘You are drawing the ire of some of the biggest clubs in England’. I responded, ‘How? We have only just come out of League One?’. And, do you know what he said? He said, ‘It’s because they know that you’re coming’.”

Tom Wagner makes big Birmingham City claim

During his talk at the event, the Birmingham chief was also discussing plans for the ‘Sports Quarter’.

On this front, Wagner claimed that their training ground will be unlike anything else in Europe right now.

He continued: “For every young person who walks into that training ground to become a member of our academy, soon they will see images of where they will play when they come of age. It will be a place unlike any other that exists in European football.”

Birmingham have already produced some top-class youngsters in recent years, the obvious standout being Jude Bellingham.

Meanwhile, his brother, Jobe Bellingham, has transfer interest from Borussia Dortmund going into the summer.
