Hull City and Derby County fans have praised one former player after his most recent award win.
The EFL awards took place on Sunday evening, as many players were awarded for their efforts throughout the 2024/25 campaign across Championship, League One, and League Two.
The evening saw many bold calls as John Brownhill missed out of the Championship Team of the Year, whilst Scott Parker was named as the Manager of the Season for the second tier.
Away from the current season accolades, several retired players and managers were also awarded for various services to the EFL, including one former Hull City and Derby County stalwart.

Hull City and Derby County supporters praise Curtis Davies for ‘well deserved’ EFL award
One of the awards up for grabs at Sunday evening’s EFL awards was The Sir Tom Finney Award, which is presented to a recently retired player who has had an outstanding career in the EFL.
Unsurprisingly, following his 452 appearances in the EFL, as well as 173 in the Premier League, this award was handed to recently retired centre-back Curtis Davies, a stalwart in Steve Bruce’s Hull City, whilst also going on to continue his career at Derby County.
After Davies was deservedly handed the award, Hull City fans took to X to share a message to the former Tigers skipper, as one said: “Congratulations Curtis Davies. Thank you for the Wembley memories.”
This was followed up by another, who said that it was a ‘well deserved’ accomplishment for the 40-year-old, backed up by another who suggested it was ‘richly deserved’.
Fans on the Derby County end also wished their former player and ‘Captain Fantastic’ well and congratulated him, also suggesting that it was ‘well deserved’ for his time at Pride Park.
Curtis Davies deserves to go down as EFL royalty following retirement
There aren’t many players such a Davies who has left such a positive mark on every club he ever notched game time for, and that is a testament to the brilliant player that he was, as well as the likeable and honest character that he portrayed as well.
The peak of his career saw him keep Hull City in the Premier League in the 2013/14 season, on top of scoring at Wembley in the FA Cup final against Arsenal, but he was revered wherever he left his hat.
After such a brilliant career in the EFL, it will be no surprise to see Davies thrive in the post-playing life, whether that be in punditry or in the managerial dugout.
