The final games of the season are upon us, including some huge fixtures that can decide a club’s future at both the top and bottom of the second tier.

There are a number of teams in the play-off race during the end of season run-in, with West Brom and Coventry City two of the sides firmly in the mix to achieve their spot in the semi-finals.

The games between those clubs are likely to be crucial in determining who has a chance of glory at Wembley, but the fans and players alike will relish such a challenge.

That’s if fans feel they can afford the eye-watering prices set by rival clubs, even for a game of such magnitude and with the added edge geographically as well for Frank Lampard’s side and Tony Mowbray’s West Brom outfit.

West Brom fans rage at Coventry City ticket prices

Many Championship fans have taken to social media to criticise Coventry’s ticket pricing ahead of the 43rd matchday of the season against the Baggies, where a play-off place could be all-but-secured for the winner.

One particular Coventry fan has seen plenty of engagement on his post regarding the unfair nature of the expense involved, offering a solution to the problem for Cov.

Another West Brom fan said: “£37 for Coventry and £25 for under 18’s. £62 plus booking fees for me and my daughter. ridiculous pricing”

A further reaction read: “£37 for Coventry away?! I understand WBA asked Cov to lower their prices, as their supporters paid a max of £30 for the game at the Hawthorns earlier this season… but the Sky Blues declined the request.”

Finally, another post stated: “Those Coventry prices are an utter disgrace. Would’ve been a no brainer but seriously considering not going now.”

Coventry City drama adds extra needle to West Brom fixture

If the play-off picture isn’t enough motivation already, the latest reaction will add further to what is already a huge fixture between now and the end of the season, especially with pundits backing West Brom over Coventry in the race.

Mowbray and Lampard are relatively new managers and both have work to do to achieve Coventry and West Brom’s ambition of the top six and win the final, but the form table showcases who has the current edge.

The experienced Mowbray will want to get one over on the rookie Lampard and also over on his former side. But it also gives the winner momentum heading into a potential play-off campaign. Not only that, but a psychological advantage in knowing that they can beat their opposition as well.

West Brom fans will hope to cause an upset at the CBS to soften the blow of the cost to travel as well; it’s added an extra layer to an already layered rivalry.
