It’s the game of the week as West Bromwich Albion make the short trip across the Midlands to face Coventry City.

In a sixth vs seventh battle it could be a winner takes all scenario with two Championship play-off places still up for grabs.

Coventry are predicted to finish in the top six but Tony Mowbray’s side will be hoping that they can silence the doubters and data analysts.

The magnitude of the game isn’t lost on the supporters either with Coventry expecting a record attendance.

Both sides know that they can’t afford to lose this and for West Brom, they’ll be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself.

Only two other teams have a poorer Good Friday record than West Brom

Ahead of the game, both teams know what this could mean for their season.

Whilst Frank Lampard has done an incredible job since replacing Mark Robins to even bring the Sky Blues into promotion contention, West Brom have been in contention for a top-six finish all year round.

Previous records don’t mean too much but if the hosts can be buoyed by one thing, it’s Albion’s terrible Good Friday record.

As per BBC Sport, out of every side to play 20 or more league games on Good Friday, only Torquay United and Stoke City have a poorer record than the Baggies.

Worst win percentage records on Good Friday
West Brom – 15.4%
Stoke City – 12.5%
Torquay United – 10.5%

Out of their 39 matches on this particular Bank Holiday weekend, West Brom have only won six times.

Not the best of omens heading into the most important game of the season.

Make or break for West Brom

Perhaps more than any other side, this game is the crucial one for Albion.

With several teams chasing them, in fact, every team can still be promoted or relegated this season, any slip up between now and then will rule them out of the mix.

West Brom are confident in Mowbray’s ability though and brought him back to the club after the Baggies boss suited their data-driven approach to replace Carlos Corberan.

It’ll be a tense affair at at Coventry Building Society Arena – can the Albion hold their nerve?
