Will Still may have played his hand in Tyler Dibling, Everton transfer saga during Southampton draw

Southampton were forced to come from behind to earn a point against Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon, as they drew 1-1 at Portman Road.

Andy Hinchcliffe couldn’t believe the Saints’ defending for the opening goal, as George Hirst forced Taylor Harwood-Bellis to turn the ball into the back of his own net after just four minutes had been played.

However, 25 minutes later, Jay Robinson scored his first professional goal with an excellent header. It was a goal that ultimately decided the game, although Sammie Szmodics did hit the post for Ipswich in the second-half.

Nevertheless, Tyler Dibling made his return to the matchday squad for Southampton. The teenager has been linked with a move to Everton throughout the last few weeks, but this decision from Will Still is proof of the Championship side’s intentions.

Will Still is still willing to play Tyler Dibling for Southampton

The Toffees are yet to meet the Saints’ valuation of Dibling, and this is becoming a bit of a frustration for the Premier League side as the weeks tick down in the summer transfer window.

Previously, the 19-year-old was training away from his teammates at Southampton, but he became reintegrated into the squad in the last week and he was brought on against Ipswich on Sunday.

He played the final seven minutes of regulation time at Portman Road, plus injury time, as he replaced Robinson, who had a tremendous game.

Still is unsure whether Dibling will remain a Southampton player or not this summer, but it is clear to see that he sees the versatile midfielder as part of his plans for the rest of this season.

Everton may not be keen to see Tyler Dibling playing for the Saints

Although match fitness is crucial, Everton will be concerned about their target playing in the Championship due to the risk of injury.

However, for Southampton, the situation is clear – Dibling is a Saints player until the Toffees match their asking price and they are free to use him in whatever capacity they want at this moment in time.

A conclusion to this saga is needed, for all parties, and the player needs to be given the chance to know quickly where his future lies.

Yet, Southampton are making it obvious about how they feel about Dibling, and he will continue to play a part in their season until Everton come in with an improved offer.
