Wrexham are heading into relatively unknown territory this season.
The Red Dragons have won three successive promotions, taking them from the National League to the Championship in no time at all.
The addition of Josh Windass is a statement of intent from the Welsh outfit as they prepare for life back in the second tier. Another promotion seems extremely unlikely with the strength of the rest of the division, but there is another record that could be broken by the club this campaign.
Wrexham have only had one other spell at this level before, and Phil Parkinson has the opportunity to break a record that has stood for the last 46 years.

Wrexham can achieve their highest ever league finish in 2025/26
The Red Dragons were relegated to the third tier in 1982, and since then, they have never returned to what is now the Championship.

But, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney revitalising the club, they find themselves with a chance of having their best ever league finish.
The furthest up the EFL that Wrexham have finished in the past is 15th in the Second Division in the 1978/79 season, while they finished 16th in the seasons following.
Back-to-back relegations followed, with the Red Dragons going onto spend a decade in the Fourth Division before they became a bit of a yo-yo club between the third and fourth tiers.

Phil Parkinson will have Premier League dreams
There has never been a better time to be a Wrexham supporter, and excitement is building ahead of the first Championship fixtures.

They are somewhat of an unknown entity, although more work is perhaps needed to improve the quality throughout the squad with the starting XI beginning to look ready for the challenge ahead. This is vital if Parkinson wants to break that record.
The Premier League is still a few years away for the Red Dragons right now, and they need time to build across a number of areas. However, the top flight has never been closer and fans will be dreaming of playing in the division in the near future.
