Bolton Wanderers set to sign ‘quality’ ace as they prepare for League One, they are building a super team

League One side Bolton Wanderers look set to go all out in the upcoming season with the ambitious moves they have made in the summer transfer window.

Bolton Wanderers are gearing up for the 2025/26 League One season, where they will hope to build on last season’s disappointment.

During the 2024/25 campaign, the decision to relieve Ian Evatt of his duties saw them appoint Steven Schumacher as his successor.

Whilst it was a difficult end to the season, with Bolton Wanderers missing out on the treasured top six, there was still plenty to build on for Schumacher’s side. Having made some key signings already, they look set to bring in another star. Bolton are already showing intent for next season, and their next potential arrival truly embodies that.

Bolton Wanderers make progress with goalkeeper situation as they close in on Chelsea star

Bolton Wanderers’ most recent potential acquisition looks set to be Ted Sharman-Lowe, who, per Pete O’Rourke on X, looks set to join the League One club on loan in the 2025/26 season from Chelsea.

Sharman-Lowe endured an impeccable 2024/25 campaign with Doncaster Rovers in League Two, helping Grant McCann’s side towards the league title. The Rovers boss previously described his shot-stopper as ‘quality’, and there is no surprise when looking at the fact that he notched 13 clean sheets in 46 games, conceding just three goals in the last six of the season.

The Chelsea goalkeeper will likely be the third arrival for Schumacher’s side this summer, and it would be no surprise for Bolton to continue building what could be a brilliant side next season.

Bolton have the foundations to build a League One powerhouse next season

Considering how early on in the summer transfer window it is, Bolton have done brilliantly to bring three names through the doors already.

The first signing for Bolton, Sam Dalby, was a clear statement from the board, considering that he managed to bag 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season and turned down a contract at Wrexham to come to Schumacher’s side. That was then followed up by Xavier Simons from Hull City, who has endured some successful loan spells.

Sharman-Lowe would be the icing on the cake and an example of how to build a team early on, and there is no sign of Bolton slowing down. Providing that they continue showing this ambition, they could easily build a top League One side that could easily compete for promotion.
