It’s the first transfer deadline day today, and EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Xavier Simons has a big decision on his hands as League One clubs enter the race to sign him.
While Hull City have been busy finding a new manager so far this summer, there has been little in the way of tangible transfer activity for the Tigers.
It is thought Sergej Jakirovic will be installed as the new Hull manager imminently, and he will surely be keen to get to work when the summer transfer window re-opens on June 16th.
But, while Jakirovic will naturally want to bring players in, he may also be losing Xavier Simons, for better or worse, and now we can reveal more clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old.

League One clubs chase Xavier Simons’ signature
Last week we exclusively revealed that Simons was wanted by Hibernian, with the Scottish club looking to bolster their ranks ahead of their upcoming European campaign.
Now, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal, thanks to information from our transfer expert Graeme Bailey, that a slew of EFL clubs have joined the race to land Simons this summer.
We can confirm that Plymouth Argyle, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, and Blackpool are now all in the hunt for the midfielder.
Simons will be familiar with League One football, of course, having spent the second half of 2024/25 on loan with Wycombe Wanderers.
The decision now will be whether he wants to stay in England and fight it out in the third tier, or try something new North of the border in Scotland.

The latest Hull City transfer stories
The Hull City rebuild could make this a very busy summer for the Tigers and Jakirovic, and a number of names have already been linked with a move to the MKM Stadium.
Hull are reportedly keen on Oli McBurnie, but the former Sheffield United man is thought to be in line for a return to the Blades.
Earlier last month, Hull were also linked with the signing of Reda Laalaoui from FUS Rabat, though nothing has come of that at this stage.
Meanwhile, another former Sheffield United player, John Lundstram, has been touted as a Hull target. Acun Ilicali is hoping Trabzonspor cancel the midfielder’s contract, thus allowing for a free transfer.
In terms of outgoings, Hull are braced for approaches for Abu Kamara, and Cody Drameh is potentially heading for the exit, too.
