Hull City are still awaiting the announcement of their new manager at the MKM Stadium, and with the transfer window now open, fans will be preparing for the reveal.
Nevertheless, owner Acun Ilicali is keen to ensure that new signings are brought in quickly as Sergej Jakirovic gets prepared to be named as the next Tigers boss.
Ruben Selles’ shock sacking was tough to take for supporters, and the incoming head coach has a huge task to ensure that the Humberside outfit are not involved in the relegation scrap once again, as they survived on the final day in 2024/25.
While there will be plenty of new faces at the MKM Stadium, one player is now free to depart, and one Scottish club has already tabled a bid.

Hibernian submit bid for Hull City’s Xavier Simons
Xavier Simons spent the second half of last season on loan at Wycombe Wanderers in League One, as they were beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Charlton Athletic – the team who eventually ran out as winners at Wembley.
In an EFL Analysis exclusive, we can reveal that Scottish side Hibernian have tabled a bid for Hull’s 22-year-old with the summer transfer window now open.
Thanks to information from transfer expert Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that Hibernian have launched a bid for the Hull City man.
We are told a number of Championship clubs have an interest in Simons, and Hull’s hierarchy are ready to allow the former England youth international move on this summer.
Xavier Simons’ Hull City career to date
After playing 20 times in the Championship for the Tigers last season, it looked as though the defensive midfielder was going to be a focal point in the team, but he soon found himself out on loan.
| Appearances (starts) | 20 (13) |
| Minutes played | 1207 |
| Goals (assists) | 2 (0) |
| Shots (on target) | 16 (4) |
| Pass accuracy | 86.6% |
| Tackle success | 54.5% |
| Duel success | 53.2% |
| Aerial duel success | 48.4% |
| Recoveries | 59 |
Simons has never truly managed to become a regular in the starting XI at the MKM Stadium, and moving away from the club could well help him out as he seeks consistent minutes on the pitch.
Hibs are set to compete in the Europa League next season, with David Gray’s side entering the competition in the second qualifying round and this will be incredibly enticing to the 22-year-old.
With the uncertainty that has surrounded Hull in the last 12 months, as managers come and go, a fresh start is the perfect way for the former Chelsea youngster to ignite his career.
