‘Excellent’ Hull City player could be in line for shock Premier League move ‘late on this summer’

It’s all change once more at Hull City this summer, and EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that one of their young talents could land a Premier League move late on in the window.

After narrowly avoiding relegation on goal difference at the start of May, Acun Ilicali sacked Ruben Selles as manager of Hull City, feeling the Spaniard did not do enough to warrant being kept on.

Selles saved the Tigers from being relegated to League One, but their form towards the end of the campaign was ultimately what cost him his job, winning just two of their final nine matches and only scoring twice from open play.

The departure of the 41-year-old left a bitter taste in the mouth of many City fans, and he isn’t the only individual who could leave the MKM Stadium.

Cody Drameh is wanted by Ligue 1 clubs Stade Reims and Toulouse while another more important player could land a surprise top-flight transfer.

Hull City’s Abu Kamara on the radar of Premier League clubs

EFL Analysis understands that winger Abu Kamara has been linked with a shock move to the Premier League this summer.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey feels the 21-year-old is liked by a lot of teams and is not ruling out a switch late on in the window.

“I think Kamara at Hull is an interesting one,” Bailey told us. “A lot of teams like him. He’s a very good player. He cost Hull a lot of money last summer. But this is a sneaky one. I wouldn’t rule him out for getting a Premier League move late on this summer.”

Hull signed Kamara for around £4 million from Norwich City last summer. The exciting winger endured a slow start to his City career, but during Selles’ tenure in charge, he began to find his feet.

The Englishman scored vital goals against Plymouth, Coventry City and West Brom towards the end of the campaign to help clinch his side’s survival.

Andy Dawson also dubbed Kamara as ‘excellent’ during the defeat to Middlesbrough in November, telling of how highly-rated he is at the MKM Stadium.

Kamara is not Premier League-ready

While Kamara showed glimpses of his talent in 2024/25, his returns in front of goal were underwhelming.

The young winger plundered five goals and laid on three assists in 38 appearances last term, with his whole campaign plagued by inconsistency.

There is certainly huge potential waiting to be unlocked with Kamara, and he will improve the more he plays, but the statistics and eye test suggest he is not ready for a Premier League move.

So, it will be interesting to see whether top-flight clubs take a chance on the attacker, with most Hull fans feeling he needs to become a star in the Championship first.
