The PFA free agent squad offers those without a club the chance to show off their talents and find a new home, and teams like Plymouth Argyle may well have turned their attention to it.
Itβs not been a good start to the campaign at all for the Pilgrims, with the Devonshire outfit picking up just one win in their first six league games.
Tom Cleverley has found life tough at Home Park so far, and while some of the blame must be pinned elsewhere, ultimately he and his players are struggling to compete in League One following relegation from the Championship in May.
Yet, with free agents still available, there is the opportunity to make changes to the squad at Plymouth, and Connor Wickham could be the perfect new arrival based on some fresh evidence.

Connor Wickham proves his talent with stunning goal for PFA team
Wickham has been involved in the PFA free agent squad for a couple of weeks now, as he builds fitness after leaving Charlton Athletic just over a year ago.

He scored once in four appearances for the Addicks in League One, and while it did not lead to a more permanent stay, it was once again proof of the quality that the 32-year-old has, with clubs like Plymouth in need of that experience.
That quality shone through on Wednesday afternoon while the striker was playing in a PFA XI against Manchester United U21s, as he fired in from the halfway line.
It was an outrageous strike, and the exact kind of goal that Wickham will be delighted to have scored as he looks to find his way back into the EFL.

Plymouth Argyle should take a look at Connor Wickham
Former Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison joined the PFA squad at the start of the week, training alongside Britt Assombalonga. However, it was Wickham who took all the plaudits on Wednesday.
For Plymouth, he could be the ideal late signing, with the Pilgrims struggling in the final third.

Argyle did sign Lorent Tolaj from Port Vale following their dismal start, but he needs support, and most importantly, the team needs experience.
Therefore, bringing Wickham to the club could be the perfect way to start September, as the player has got an excellent knowledge of the EFL.
