Pre-season has helped Hull City unearth one brilliant academy prospect who could be crucial this season.

Hull City have finished up on their Turkey pre-season tour, where Sergej Jakirovic’s side faced off against a handful of Super Lig teams.

In what was a challenging pre-season tour for the Tigers squad, especially amid the club’s ongoing financial concerns, they did brilliantly to win two of three games; with all signs pointing towards Jakirovic successfully getting a tune out of his side.

The transfer fee restriction that Hull City have been placed under could likely see the Tigers may prioritise the younger ranks within the squad, particularly those who are yet to be handed their chance at first-team football.

One of which has proven to be a top talent whilst on pre-season, which could give Jakirovic a selection headache once the Championship season kicks off.

Hull City ace Tyrell Sellars-Fleming shows incredible quality in successful pre-season trip

The Tigers have had several academy stars perform in pre-season, including Hull City centre-back Pharrell Brown, who has been heavily praised by the Tigers’ boss after he compared the youngster to England international John Stones.

Another top performer has been Tyrell Sellars-Fleming, who has regularly featured in each game so far of pre-season, and also scored in a behind-closed-doors game vs Grimsby Town.

The Hull City forward has also suggested that Sergej Jakirovic has played a positive role in his development recently, having said, via the club website: “Training for me has been enjoyable with the sessions that they put on. They have been good to me and I am enjoying my football.”

Tyrell Sellars-Fleming could be the next big thing in the Hull City academy

Hull City have nurtured several top talents in recent years, some of whom have gone on to Premier League football.

Notably, the Tigers brought Keane Lewis-Potter through their academy, and a period of success for the club in the Championship and League One helped him earn a move to Premier League side Brentford.

Hull have also, of course, played a huge part in England international Jarrod Bowen’s development, having brought him through the academy after a switch from Hereford Town, and then turned him into a clinical goalscorer in the Championship before signing for West Ham, where he continued his brilliant displays.

It is still very early days in Tyrell Sellars-Fleming’s development, but hopefully Sergej Jakirovic can maximise his potential this season and give him some well-deserved opportunities in the Championship.
