Ipswich Town are expected to be busy in the transfer market ahead of the deadline day at the start of September as they look to build towards a Championship promotion push.

The Tractor Boys have earned two points from their opening fixtures against Birmingham City and Southampton, a pair of clubs expected to be challenging them for the Championship title.

Ipswich Town recently lost Omari Hutchinson to Nottingham Forest and Nathan Broadhead to Wrexham but are looking to sign reinforcements, being linked to several names.

However, the club have rejected a bid for Luke Woolfenden from Coventry City, as the Sky Blues prepare for life without Bobby Thomas, who is of interest to several Premier League clubs.

Ipswich should consider cashing in on the 26-year-old and making a move for a player they had previously been linked to earlier in the summer.

Ipswich should make a move for Sebastian Caceres

The Tractor Boys had been linked to the Uruguayan international earlier in the transfer window; however, they opted not to make an approach.

Ben Jacobs has reported on social media that Ipswich have rejected the bid from Coventry City, with the Tractor Boys being understood to have ‘no intention to sell’.

However, the club should consider cashing in on the local defender to bring in a player with international experience who has also had a lot of success in Mexico with América.

The interest in Woolfenden has come about due to the links Ipswich have had to several defensive options, and if this is the case, Ipswich may be looking for a higher offer ahead of a move for Sebastian Caceres, who has a market value of £5 million according to FotMob.

Sebastian Caceres has impressed Marcelo Bielsa

The 26-year-old has become an ever-present in the Uruguay national team since making his debut in 2022, with their current manager Marcelo Bielsa putting a lot of trust in him.

Caceres is loving life under Bielsa and believes that he has had a significant impact upon his career, seeing Caceres being linked to the likes of West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and now Ipswich Town.

Speaking about his time at America, Caceres has spoken about the need to deal with pressure and how Bielsa has had an impact on him and Uruguay, as reported by LatinUS.

He said, “There are teams where winning or losing sometimes doesn’t matter; here in America, if you don’t win a game, it’s sometimes a scandal. It’s important to him that his players perform under pressure at a high level in a good league.

“Sometimes he gives you insights into football that you might never have thought about, and yes, he’s absolutely right. He sees football in a way that someone who watches football every day might not, because he’s a genius in that sense.”
