MK Dons have had a fairly extraordinary summer transfer window.
As one of the favourites for promotion throughout pre-season, the Dons have made an excellent start to the League Two campaign and Paul Warne is building a very strong side.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing joined from Derby County earlier this summer, while Callum Paterson is having plenty of success at Stadium MK already this season.
Ambition is the order of the day in Buckinghamshire, and now MK Dons have turned their attention to another Rams star, who could easily be the best signing in League Two in this transfer window if a deal is agreed.

Paul Warne is playing his hand as MK Dons register Kane Wilson interest
The arrival of Max Johnston at Derby means that John Eustace has four right-backs at his disposal in 2025/26, and it seemed likely that either Ryan Nyambe or Joe Ward would depart to make way for the Scotland international.

However, it was first reported by Football League World that Kane Wilson is a target for MK Dons and BBC Radio Derby have confirmed that the East Midlands outfit will accept a bid for the ex-Bristol City man before the transfer window shuts.
While a surprising move, it is proof of the direction that the Dons are heading in and they must ultimately see themselves as a Championship in waiting.
Wilson has been key for Derby over the course of the last two years, and while injuries have left him wanting in the last few months, he is clearly a player who has more than enough ability to play in the second tier.
This could be seen as a negative move for Kane Wilson
Although his game time will be limited by Johnston’s arrival, it will be a huge frustration for many to see the 25-year-old drop to League Two if the move is completed.
He was left out of Derby’s squad against Ipswich Town on Saturday, and this suggests that MK Dons are closing in rapidly on a move for the right-back.

Eustace was keen to keep hold of Wilson as his contract came to an end in the summer, before a one-year extension was triggered and he was extremely complimentary of the defender.
He said (via: Derbyshire Live): “He’s been awesome. He’s very positive when he gets the ball, very direct, gets up the pitch and can create. There’s a lot that I feel I can help him develop as a player with and without the ball, and I’m really excited to be working with him.
“We have to remember as well he’s been playing through a knee injury in the last three or four games as well. To get him on the pitch again (v Stoke), after another week that he’s been through is full credit to him. It’s great news.”
Nonetheless, this seems to be the end of the road for Wilson at Pride Park, as he prepares to reunite with Warne at MK Dons.
