It’s two defeats from two games for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, and Saturday was perhaps a reflection of what is to come this season.
After making supporters ‘proud’ following their 2-1 loss to Leicester City on the opening weekend, the Owls were carved apart by the early pace setters, Stoke City, at Hillsborough.
As fans whistled in protest, the Potters opened the scoring inside the first minute through Million Manhoef. Divin Mubama scored just after the break to make it two goals in two matches for him, before Manhoef sealed the deal in the 69th minute.
Sheffield Wednesday are in desperate need of reinforcements, but as they are restricted to free agents and loanees, the quality of players that they can bring in has been lowered. Nevertheless, experience is key and they can help add to their squad with a midfielder well-known to those in S6.

Adam Reach could add crucial experience and depth to Sheffield Wednesday
Britt Assombalonga is now training with the PFA pre-season squad, and he has been joined by a number of former EFL stars, including Adam Reach.

He spent the latter half of last season at Wycombe Wanderers, making 12 appearances for the Chairboys as they reached the League One play-offs. However, he remains without a club.
There is no denying that Sheffield Wednesday do need players with a little more quality than what Reach possesses at this stage of his career, but they also need to find new faces that can add depth to their squad.
The Owls’ bench is lacking in experience, and after making 230 appearances for the club previously, he would add that and more.

Adam Reach can help with the development of the young players
Reach is relatively versatile, with the 32-year-old playing in just about every single position at some point in his career, although it is on the left side of midfield where he feels most comfortable.
This would make him extremely valuable to Henrik Pedersen, and he could also play a key role in helping to bring through the younger players at Hillsborough.

Fitness will, of course, be a concern, and Reach would need time to get match ready. However, his role would mostly involve coming off the bench for Sheffield Wednesday, as they look to build a squad that has the chance of survival.
Nevertheless, with just under two weeks to go until the transfer window shuts, there is limited time for the Owls to find the loan stars that they need, and the free agent market may be the best way for the club to fill their squad.
