Three positions Leicester City can focus on improving after Bilal El Khannouss boost

Leicester City can finally see light at the end of the tunnel in the Bilal El Khannouss saga.

El Khannouss is set to stay with the Foxes after a move to Crystal Palace collapsed.

The Morocco international’s release clause expiry date has also passed, with Leicester now wanting £35m or more for his services.

It’s a huge boost for the club, who no longer need to sell in order to stay on track with the PSR guidelines.

There is only one week to go until the end of the window and now Marti Cifuentes can finally focus on getting some new faces through the door.

To help Cifuentes decide on what he needs, EFL Analysis has picked out three positions he should be prioritising new recruits in.

Left-back

Left-back is probably one of the thinnest areas of Leicester’s squad right now.

Luke Thomas has played every minute of all competitions in the role and with Victor Kristiansen linked to Nottingham Forest, they could be short in the department.

James Justin was able to play there, but has signed for Leeds United and unless Cifuentes turns to academy players, there is nobody other than Thomas capable of playing that role.

A youngster on loan may be the best way to go for this one.

Centre midfielder

This is a position Leicester are well stocked; however, it is one that many would be happy seeing new faces in.

Harry Winks and Boubakary Soumare have work to do to restore their reputation with the fanbase, Hamza Choudhury is more of a right-back nowadays and Oliver Skipp has been a disastrous £25m acquisition.

Louis Page, 17, is another option, but has been deployed in the number 10 role instead. It’s not an area that desperately needs someone, but Foxes fans certainly wouldn’t complain.

Striker

Signing a striker is absolutely paramount to Leicester’s season.

Now that they don’t have Jamie Vardy’s goals to rely on, it’s clear that the Foxes are lacking some bite up front.

Given their need for a number nine, clubs are likely to charge them a premium price for players and money will have to be spent.

Mihailo Ivanovic could be the perfect candidate for this and although Millwall have no intention of selling Ivanovic, it’s the sort of signing that would give Leicester a focal point up top again.
