Many Leicester City fans are in agreement over one ‘proper’ player who deserves a run of games under Marti Cifuentes.
Leicester City beat Charlton Athletic on their travels this weekend, as Marti Cifuentes notched his second Championship win as manager.
The Foxes have accumulated a mixed bag of results so far in the 2025/26 season, having seen off both the Addicks and Sheffield Wednesday, but a crushing defeat to Preston North End brought questions upon Cifuentes.
Former Leicester player David Nugent was unhappy with the performance against Charlton, and whilst it showed up some weakness from the Foxes, it helped shine a light on one unsung hero.
Abdul Fatawu will get the plaudits after his Leicester showing, having bagged the decisive goal in brilliant fashion, but one fellow teammate has also been praised after he ‘led by example’ against a newly-promoted Charlton side.

Leicester City fans praise Hamza Choudhury following Charlton Athletic display
Leicester City boss Marti Cifuentes opted to hand Hamza Choudhury his first Championship start of the season against Charlton Athletic. This followed being an unused substitute against Sheffield Wednesday and a 13-minute cameo against Preston North End.
It is clear that Choudhury is not at the top of Cifuentes’ priority list, but his performance against Charlton showed that he deserves to be handed yet another start against Birmingham City.
Foxes supporters took to social media following the game, where they singled out the right-back for praise.
One fan said: “Man of the match for me. Blocks, tackles, he never shirks anything. He led by example today. When Page gave the ball away early on he was first to go to him. After last season that’s what i want to see. Players giving everything for the badge.”
Supporters then continued to show their support for Choudhury, as the Bangladeshi international was described as ‘Leicester through and through’ and ‘always was one to give everything’.
One fan continued: “The huddle which he organised at the start of the game, he moved closer to the away fans for a clap, which was a touch of class from Hamza.”
Another fan said: “Stick him in somehow every game, he is a proper player. Hard work wins over talent, and Hamza is a pure example, City through and through.”
Hamza Choudhury stats vs Charlton Athletic
Hamza Choudhury managed a barnstorming performance at right-back, donning the captain’s armband for Leicester City, and the stats further prove the brilliant showing he produced.
Via SofaScore, Choudhury managed three clearances, two blocked shots, two tackles, and a clearance off the line; all whilst winning five out of seven duels.
The experienced Leicester defender kept the threat of Tyreece Campbell fairly minimal, whilst playing a pivotal role in controlling the ball, making 55 passes from full-back.
As Leicester City fans state, such a performance is worthy of another opportunity this weekend in the grudge match against Birmingham City.
