Birmingham City boss Chris Davies will surely give his Blues side an added incentive to beat Leicester City this weekend.
Birmingham City travel to Leicester City on Friday evening, where Chris Davies’ side will hope to put in a performance worthy of toppling a likely promotion candidate.
With two wins and a draw so far in the 2025/26 Championship season, it has been a steady, yet positive start for Davies in the second tier as Birmingham hope to continue their momentum from the League One title-winning campaign.
Ahead of the weekend’s crunch tie, Birmingham will surely take optimism after Leicester City’s rocky start to affairs, having lost to Preston North End on their travels, in between tight and unconvincing wins against a beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday and newly-promoted Charlton Athletic.
A win could be a real sign of intent for Birmingham City, who could also break a 14-year duck against this weekend’s opposition.

In addition, the Blues have not been victorious against Leicester City since 2011. Since then, Birmingham City have been on the receiving end of seven defeats, drawing a further two back-to-back games in 2012.
Birmingham City and Leicester City faced off against each other on three occasions in the 2023/24 season, including one in the FA Cup. The Foxes managed to find wins in each contest.

What happened the last time the Blues beat Leicester
The last time Birmingham City were victorious against Leicester City was the 2011/12 season, with the Blues notching a 2-0 win in the home tie.
After the game went into the interval goalless, Birmingham took the lead in the 50th minute, courtesy of a converted penalty by Marlon King. Things went from bad to worse for Sven-Göran Eriksson’s side, who went down to 10 men after Matthew Mills picked up a red card.
Birmingham City would go on to capitalise on the advantage, with a young Chris Wood scoring the Blues’ second of the contest.
Following many years of mediocrity for Birmingham City, and elation on the other hand for Leicester City in the Premier League, there could be a changing of the guard at St Andrews as the new-look Blues side look to cement a promotion push.
