Sheffield Wednesday are set to part ways with Danny Rohl.
EFL Analysis revealed that Rohl’s position at Wednesday has become ‘untenable’ and that he will leave his position at Hillsborough imminently.
Rohl wasn’t welcomed back to Wednesday with open arms and now, with the damage done, he is set to leave the Owls.
It brings an end to a tumultuous few months in Sheffield and despite Wednesday having their recent embargoes removed, the drama has heated up once more.
In light of the news, here are the winners and losers from the latest update.

The winners from Danny Rohl leaving Sheffield Wednesday
The fans
Supporters have been huge backers of Danny Rohl for the majority of his tenure given the restrictions he’s had to work with under Dejphon Chansiri.
However, patience can only last so long and the constant flirting with other clubs eyeing him up to become their manager has fractured relations.
The decision for Rohl to not return to pre-season training left a sour taste in the mouth of fans and now that he’s back, fans were left torn on the German’s return.
Wednesday fans want someone who is committed to the cause and it’s understandable why there will probably be a sense of relief to see him go.
The Sheffield Wednesday squad
Nobody has had it harder than the Wednesday squad this season.
A number of high-profile players have departed the Owls while those who have chosen to remain have had wages unpaid.
They, as much as the fans, need consistency and after starting pre-season without the German, it was no surprise to hear that the Wednesday stars weren’t happy to see Rohl back and they probably have a good idea of who they want next.
Henrik Pedersen
Unlike his boss, Henrik Pedersen made the conscious decision to return to pre-season training with the Championship club and has earned eternal respect across the board. He even signed a new contract to signal his commitment to the Owls.
Pedersen has been leading all of the training sessions and the early indicator from any footage shown suggests that he is well-liked by the playing squad.
At the moment, Pedersen is still Rohl’s assistant manager but is widely considered as the leading candidate to take over the top job. Now, he will see a clear pathway to achieving that goal.
The losers from Danny Rohl leaving Sheffield Wednesday
Dejphon Chansiri
Chansiri may finally be on the verge of selling Wednesday to bring an end to the misery he has brought to Hillsborough and will be thankful that the Rohl saga has come to an end, but, it comes at a price.
It was well documented that the 36-year-old had a release clause in his contract and by walking away from his job, Chansiri won’t receive a penny.

Given the number of sides interested in him, from Leicester City to Wolfsburg, it will be seen as a missed opportunity for the controversial owner.
Additionally, for all the pain he has inflicted on the Owls, Rohl was his best appointment who punched well above his weight to keep the club in the second tier.
The fans
Now, I know I’ve said the fans will win from this as it brings an end to having someone who no longer wants to be at the club off their books, but in the long-term, people are likely to look back at what Rohl achieved.
Just about everything was against him on the pitch but he was able to unite supporters for the majority of his time in Yorkshire and gave them a team to be proud of.
Sure, they weren’t challenging for promotion but after being tipped to finish rock bottom both seasons, securing a mid table spot was a great achievement.
Right now there will be anger but it will be hard to imagine another manager could galvanise the side like he did.
