This summer has perhaps not quite been as strong as Wrexham have needed it to be so far.
Josh Windass is coming close to joining the Red Dragons, just days after he won the legal battle to leave Sheffield Wednesday.
Meanwhile, former Wrexham striker Steven Fletcher is well-liked by MK Dons, although Paul Warne faces competition from sides in England and Scotland for the veteran forward.
Nevertheless, with more attacking firepower needed at the Racecourse Ground, Phil Parkinson must turn his attention to an out-of-favour player at Leeds United. He could be the perfect replacement for another ageing star.

Wrexham must sign Patrick Bamford this summer
Patrick Bamford has been told by Daniel Farke that he will not feature for the Whites in the Premier League this season and an Elland Road exit looks a near-certainty.

While Coventry City could also be a good choice for the one-time capped England international, Wrexham may just be the perfect place for the striker to create a new legacy.
Farke explained his position on Bamford (via: BBC Sport): “I had a really open and honest conversation with Patrick, which was important. He knows how much I rate him as a player and I would have preferred a fit Patrick Bamford for the last two seasons.
“But he is a player who needs to be the main man. He needs an arm round the shoulder after some difficult seasons. I was not willing to tell him he was the main man at Premier League level.
“In the second day of pre-season, I got him into my office and told him he is not in my plans for the upcoming season. It would have been easy for me to hide behind the sporting director or wait until we got someone else in, but he has done so much for this club, he deserves respect and transparency.”

Ollie Palmer needs replacing, Patrick Bamford is the perfect player to do so
At 31, there is no denying that Bamford is past the peak of his powers. However, he has been offered very few opportunities in the last year with injuries a major issue.
Nevertheless, at Wrexham, Ollie Palmer has also struggled and the step-up to the Championship may just be one too great for the ex-AFC Wimbledon man.

He scored just three times in League One last season, which is not good enough for a back-up striker if the Red Dragons are to avoid relegation.
Bamford will expect to be a starter, and he could be the perfect partner for Sam Smith while Windass operates in an attacking midfield role. Depth is needed in North Wales, and the Leeds forward brings that in abundance.
