EFL Analysis can confirm the truth regarding former Newcastle United and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic’s rumoured move to Birmingham City.
Birmingham City have enjoyed one of the most impressive transfer windows in English football this summer.
Following the Blues’ record-breaking League One title win, owners Tom Wagner and Tom Brady have backed head coach Chris Davies with a plethora of high-profile signings.
The likes of Tommy Doyle, Kyogo Furuhashi and Demarai Gray have arrived at St Andrew’s this summer to help the Blues’ quest for successive promotions to the Premier League.
One former top flight striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, has been linked with a return to England, and after reports circulated about his potential move to Birmingham, EFL Analysis can confirm the truth over his future.

Exclusive: Aleksandar Mitrovic to Birmingham City truth revealed
Following Birmingham’s win at Blackburn Rovers, reports emerged from talkSPORT that Birmingham want more forward signings and that Al Hilal striker Mitrovic was of interest to Birmingham.
Birmingham already have several top strikers in their ranks, including the likes of Jay Stansfield, who scored the equaliser against Blackburn, Furuhashi, new arrival Marvin Ducksch, and the Rovers winner Lyndon Dykes.
However, the Serbian centre-forward has scored an outstanding 68 goals in just 79 appearances, notching 14 assists along the way, for the Saudi Pro League side since joining from Fulham in 2023.
Although his arrival would undoubtedly excite the Blues faithful, EFL Analysis can confirm, thanks to information from our Chief Football correspondent Graeme Bailey, that there is no truth in the Mitrovic to Birmingham rumours.
| Club name | Games: goals record |
| Anderlecht | 90: 44 |
| Newcastle United | 72: 17 |
| Fulham | 186: 99 |
| Al Hilal | 79: 68 |
Birmingham sources insist that Mitrovic, who capology report to be earning £21.5million per year in Saudi Arabia, is not of interest to the Blues.
EFL Analysis can reveal that Mitrovic is potentially returning to England, but if he does so, it will be for a Premier League suitor, and it will not be in the Championship.

Birmingham City should focus on players other than Aleksandar Mitrovic
From a Blues perspective, Birmingham acquired Furuhashi as a statement signing, and the former Celtic hero has already got off the mark with his goal in the Carabao Cup win against Sheffield United.
In addition to Furuhashi, Birmingham signed Ducksch from Werder Bremen, and his consistently impressive goal return in the Bundesliga will excite Blues fans ahead of his return from injury.
With Stansfield and Dykes, the two goalscorers in the Rovers win, already in the forward department before this summer, goals will not be an issue for Birmingham this season.
Signing Mitrovic would undoubtedly be an impressive coup for the Blues, but given the Serbian’s astronomical wages and desire for Premier League football, the rumours never seemed to hold any weight.
