Burnley ‘issue’ revealed in securing permanent Jaidon Anthony, Bournemouth switch

EFL Analysis has exclusive information on the future of Jaidon Anthony, with the winger on loan to Burnley from AFC Bournemouth.

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season after just one year in the division, and despite losing manager Vincent Kompany and a host of key players in the summer, they are in a great position to bounce back from the Championship at the first attempt under the guidance of Scott Parker.

Parker has gained automatic promotion before with Bournemouth, and Anthony was a vital player to his side. That is why they were reunited in the summer after Anthony penned a loan-to-buy deal with the Clarets, having fallen out of favour with Andoni Iraola.

Now, in an EFL Analysis exclusive, we can reveal further details of Anthony remaining with the club in the upcoming summer transfer window — including a potential snag in the deal.

Jaidon Anthony exclusive transfer information revealed for Burnley to seal permanent Bournemouth switch

The Clarets have been in and around the top two for much of the season, with success being built on a remarkable defensive record for Burnley. But, with the international break upon us, that signifies the business end of the season for Sheffield United, Burnley, and table toppers Leeds United.

Anthony was with the latter on loan last season when he became Leeds’ final recruit of the summer transfer window at the 11th hour of deadline day, moving from Bournemouth as part of the deal that saw Luis Sinisterra head in the other direction on loan.

Anthony may have been a quality operator at this level with Bournemouth, but Daniel Farke struck gold out wide, meaning he had a bit-part role last term. This season, he has been far more involved at Turf Moor in a second loan spell from the top flight.

EFL Analysis expert Graeme Bailey has offered the latest exclusive information on the situation regarding Anthony’s longer-term future in Lancashire, irrespective of whether the side gain promotion or not.

Bailey said: “Jaidon Anthony wants to join Burnley and he has made that clear; and they want him, too.”

According to previous reports from Alan Nixon’s Patreon, a fee of £7.5 million has been set for Anthony’s permanent transfer, which will automatically be activated if Burnley go on to secure promotion.

However, Burnley could struggle to seal a switch financially without promotion. Bailey added: “Burnley have an issue, though.

“If they don’t get promoted, then their budget may be cut somewhat.

“If they get promoted, then there are no issues, and Anthony is a permanent signing at Turf Moor.”

The latest reveal comes after an EFL Analysis exclusive regarding Josh Brownhill and his future at Burnley past the summer, with numerous clubs eyeing a free transfer for the midfielder.

Jaidon Anthony’s goal and assist numbers for Burnley

Although a play-off place is already assured for Parker’s side, they won’t be settling for a place in the top six and will instead want to claw back one of the two sides above them, but that promises to be a tough ask given their tricky-looking fixture list during the automatic promotion run-in.

Anthony is key to that, having operated as either a slightly unnatural right-sided winger or on the left in his best position. Burnley have scored the eighth-most goals in the league, albeit their output has improved of late.

Of course, it’s a collective responsibility for this poor output, with some players guilty of missing chances, but Anthony is not one of them. The 25-year-old has been one of their more productive players.

Only Josh Brownhill and Zian Flemming have contributed to more goals thus far, with no one else in the squad coming close to their combined number of goals and assists as they mount Burnley’s promotion charge; every other player is on three contributions or fewer.

EFL experts are impressed with Burnley recently, including their level of output and their general performance levels in search of bouncing back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. While others claim they could come ‘unstuck’.
