West Brom seem to have come alive in the transfer market over the past week, as they have been linked with several players.

The Baggies have been linked with a number of signings over the past week, including having interest in the next Jay-Jay Okocha, while also looking to strengthen their defence with a loan move for Kian Best.

Following the sale of Torbjorn Heggem to Bologna for £10 million, West Brom are set to replace him with Krystian Bielik of Birmingham City.

Now the club looks set to continue their activity in the transfer market as they look to hijack a deal Hull City were incredibly keen on, as stated by Sergej Jakirovic.

West Brom set to secure the loan of Toby Collyer

Sheffield Wednesday had been interested in signing Toby Collyer on loan from Manchester United to help strengthen their side; however, Hull City looked to be in pole position to get the exciting youngster.

Now, it appears that West Brom have won the race to sign the player on loan, as Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to announce that Collyer is set to join the Baggies this season.

The Italian journalist also explained that the deal would only be a loan deal, with no option to buy the player at the end of the season.

The information was first reported in the Athletic, with Romano sharing the news on X, formerly known as Twitter.

It is believed that Manchester United believe West Brom are the side that would offer better development for the youngster, compared to how he would evolve at Hull City.

How West Brom won the race for Toby Collyer

It had appeared to many that Hull City would win the race to sign the youngster on loan this season, with Jakirovic keen to get the deal over the line.

However, it has been reported by Rich Fay on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Hull City were ‘quietly confident’ of securing a deal, but the structure of the West Brom deal was more appealing to Manchester United.

Hull would have been unable to pay a loan fee due to transfer restrictions that were placed on the club earlier this summer.
