It’s a summer of change at Southampton as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
The Saints almost broke Derby County’s Premier League points record in 2024/25, racking up just 12 from their 38 games as they finished bottom of the division.
But with Will Still in charge, there will be hope that the Hampshire outfit can get back to the top flight at the first time of asking and put right all of their wrongs from the last 12 months.
Southampton have already lost Kamaldeen Sulemana to Atalanta this summer, and now another one of their star players is being targeted by the Italian giants.

Atalanta want Southampton ace Tyler Dibling but there’s an issue
Former Saints boss Ivan Juric is in the hotseat at Atalanta after he left St. Mary’s before the end of last season, and he is reportedly keen on Tyler Dibling.

Tutto Atalanta has stated that the club are hoping to negotiate a lower fee for the 19-year-old following relegation. However, as per information from Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, a deal seems unlikely after difficulties while working together in the past.
Southampton view the midfielder as a key player and The Telegraph claimed in March that a £100m price tag had been placed on Dibling as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur circled.
But this looks to have lessened significantly and while the Saints will be keen to keep hold of the Exeter-born star, there will be a fee that is too high to turn down.

Will Still may have to give up on Tyler Dibling this summer
Atalanta are set to take part in the Champions League after finishing 3rd in Serie A last season, and this will be of huge interest to Dibling.
Therefore, if an offer does come in Southampton may find it difficult to keep hold of their young talent but it does not look as though the Italian side will be the ones to win any potential race.
Dibling is a player with an extremely bright future and playing in the second tier of English football is something that he may want to avoid – particularly with Europe potentially on the cards.
