Jesurun Rak-Sakyi had been linked with a Championship move all summer long but a switch never materialised.
The Crystal Palace winger has plenty of experience on loan in the English Football League after spells with Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United.
EFL Analysis’ chief football correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed at the start of the summer that Premier League Palace were assessing Rak-Sakyi’s future, with Birmingham City among the clubs that were interested in signing him. Leicester City and Celtic then emerged in the race for the 22-year-old, before reports emerged of former club Sheffield United being keen.
However, there was another club that were reportedly wanting to buy the former Chelsea youth player that also missed out.

Coventry City missed out on buying Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
Former Blues midfielder-turned manager Frank Lampard’s Coventry City wanted to purchase Rak-Sakyi.
That’s according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, who says the Sky Blues wanted to sign him on deadline day.
After his moves to Celtic and Leicester broke down, the West Midlands club tried to make a move for him on Monday, but to no avail. Coventry fans were torn on their transfer window, with captain Ben Sheaf’s late move to Wrexham rocking the boat at the CBS Arena. A deal for Rak-Sakyi will likely have boosted Sky Blues supporters’ feelings on their club’s overall business.
The winger is far down Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s pecking order and Nixon says Palace are looking to Belgium for a potential loan before their window shuts.
Rak-Sakyi needs a permanent move from Crystal Palace to the Championship, he should sign for Birmingham City
While a loan is most likely this summer, Rak-Sakyi needs a permanent move.
The forward has two years left on his current Palace deal, with his contract running until June 2027. However, with opportunities at Selhurst Park few and far between, Rak-Sakyi needs to move on to progress his career.
His first senior loan at then-League One Charlton saw him score 15 goals and grab nine assists in 49 games. He then proved he could make the step up to the Championship, netting seven times for the Blades last season as they reached the play-off final.
Rak-Sakyi needs a move to the second tier, and with Birmingham City only signing Patrick Roberts on loan from Sunderland, a permanent move for the London-born ace would be a smart move.
