Of all the teams in the Championship, Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues were one of the least active, but there are still a few Coventry City incomings and outgoings to get your head around.

Having missed out on promotion last season via the play-offs, everyone expected Coventry City to do big things in the transfer market and give Frank Lampard the right tools to succeed in 2025/26.

In the end, it was a pretty quiet summer for the Sky Blues, but that might not necessarily be a bad thing as they managed to keep hold of all their star players despite plenty of speculation and interest.

In many ways, Coventry City have the secret to success now, which is consistency and momentum. But, there are a handful of deals to dissect, so here we go.

Every confirmed Coventry City transfer

The first signing of Coventry’s summer came with the acquisition of full-back Miguel Angel Brau on a free transfer from Spanish second tier outfit Granada.

Brau scored twice in 26 La Liga Two outings this season. He told Coventry’s website after his signing: “It’s a great honour for me to be joining Coventry City. I can’t wait to put on the Sky Blue shirt and play for this great club in front of the fans. I know we will enjoy a lot of success together.”

Next up, the Sky Blues added highly-rated Aston Villa full-back Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth on loan. Kesler-Hayden was wanted by a few clubs, but Coventry won the battle.

Finally, Coventry City sealed a deadline day deal for Ipswich Town defender Luke Woolfenden, who signed in a £4m move.

Confirmed Coventry City signings:

Overall, Coventry City spent just £7.5m, which puts them towards the lower end of the Championship spending charts this summer.

Indeed, experts worry Coventry haven’t done enough with their squad, while fans think Doug King prioritised the stadium over transfers.

All Coventry City outgoings so far this summer

Five fringe players have departed the CBS Arena this summer. Jamie Paterson, Jack Burroughs and Fabio Tavares joined Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town and Burton Albion respectively.

In addition to those three, Ryan Howley and Cian Tyler have departed the club as free agents after both were not offered new contracts at Coventry.

Two sales brought in a transfer fee for Coventry City. First, Luis Binks went to Denmark to join Brondby in a £2.6m deal.

Then, at the end of the window, Coventry sold Ben Sheaf to Wrexham for £6.5m. It was a bit of a shock move, with Lampard previously outlining his desire to keep the midfielder.

Confirmed Coventry City departures:

In the end, Coventry City brought in just over £9m in transfer fees, meaning they have a positive net spend compared to Championship rivals.
