All the ins and outs from the Championship on transfer deadline day
Birmingham City
A busy end for Birmingham City as the window shut. Leaving was youngster George Hall, who signed for for League One side Port Vale. Hall leaves on a permanent deal while Tyler Roberts departed for Mansfield Town.
Alfie Chang also left to join Bristol Rovers on loan.
Their only other bits of business saw Patrick Roberts join on loan from Sunderland and Jack Robinson sign from Sheffield United late on.
Lyndon Dykes hoped for a return to Scotland to join Hibernian, but that never came off.
Blackburn Rovers
After a busy summer, Blackburn Rovers did almost no business on transfer deadline day. The closest they came to a major deal was Makhtar Gueye being linked with Aberdeen, but as things stand, that hasn’t come to fruition.
The only deals that did happen were Taylor Gardner-Hickman joining on loan from Birmingham, Dominic Hyam completing a move to Wrexham and then youngsters Harry Leonard joining Peterborough United and Jack Barrett signing for Tranmere Rovers.
Bristol City
There was one new Bristol City signing to get excited about on deadline day, as Neto Borges joined on loan from Middlesbrough.
Meanwhile, the Robins sent Adam Murphy and Jamie Knight-Lebel on loan to Swindon Town and Sam Bell joined Wycombe Wanderers.
Charlton Athletic
Just a little of business for Charlton Athletic on deadline day, as Southampton’s James Bree moved to the Valley and youngster Micah Mbick joined Colchester United on loan.
A loan deal for David Datro Fofana also looked like happening, but the required paperwork wasn’t submitted in time.
Coventry City
Luke Woolfenden arrived in a £4m deal from Ipswich Town, with Coventry moving on from their pursuit for Hull City’s Charlie Hughes.
The Sky Blues also sent Norman Bassette to Reims on loan, while youngster Justin Obikwu went on loan to Lincoln City.
Raphael has dropped down a league to join Wigan Athletic.
Derby County
With 13 Derby County signings already this summer, it’s not surprising the Rams were quiet on deadline day. They did, however, allow Ben Osborn to join Stockport County and youngster Jake Rooney signed for Barnsley on loan.

Hull City
Just the two deals today for Hull City, with Amir Hadziahmetovic arriving on loan from Besiktas and Darko Gyabi joining from Leeds United. With the Tigers being under a transfer ban, we shouldn’t have expected much more.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough and Leicester abandoned their pursuit of Ivor Pandur and Abu Kamara secured his move away, heading to Spain to sign for Getafe.
Ipswich Town
As we mentioned, Ipswich Town allowed Luke Woolfenden to join Coventry City. It was very much a day of outgoings for the Tractor Boys, actually.
Chiedozie Ogbene joined Sheffield United, Fin Barbrook went to Lincoln on loan, and there’s a chance Conor Chaplin will return to Portsmouth. Ipswich also sent youngster Tommy Taylor to Cheltenham Town on a loan deal.
Ali Al-Hamadi also departed for Luton Town on a loan with an obligation to buy.
There was one arrival for Ipswich, with Luca Fletcher joining from Man City on loan.
Leicester City
One of the biggest transfer sagas going into deadline day was the situation surrounding Bilal El Khannouss. His future has now been resolved, as he joins Stuttgart on loan with a future fee of around £30m. Interestingly, Leicester fans weren’t too upset by the move, either.
The Foxes also sent Will Alves on loan to Huddersfield Town, but they finally brought in a new signing, too. Argentine striker Julian Carranza joins from Feyenoord, and is expected to lead the line for Leicester now.
Jordan James was then the second arrival of the day, joining on a loan with an option to buy from Rennes before they rounded off a trio of signings with Aaron Ramsey on loan from Burnley.
Late in the day, Leicester allowed Woyo Coulibaly to join Sassuolo on loan, and youngsters Nathan Opoku and Sammy Braybrooke went to Newport County on loan.
Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough have had a brilliant window, let’s be honest. The league leaders wrapped up their signings by finally getting David Strelec over the line and bagging experienced goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it sounds like Alan Browne will swap Sunderland for Boro, as well.
In terms of outgoings, Marcus Forss joined Bolton Wanderers on loan, Neto Borges went to Bristol City, and Law McCabe joined Plymouth Argyle on loan.
Boro also released young ‘keeper Tom Glover on a free.
Millwall
It was a very quiet day for Millwall, with just Adam Mayor heading to Cambridge on loan. The arrival of Thierno Ballo is expected, after a medical was conducted, and confirmed late on was the addition of Will Smallbone on loan from Southampton.
Norwich City
After speculation suggesting Josh Sargent could leave Norwich City, we’re pretty sure Canaries fans will be delighted to see the window shut and the USA striker still in their squad. Sunderland came in for Sargent, but Norwich resisted.
Norwich also held on to Kenny McLean, who snubbed a move to his boyhood club, Rangers.
Manchester United youngster Zach Baumann has also come to Carrow Road.

Oxford United
Oxford United had one in and two outs today. Bulgarian starlet Filip Krastev joined on loan, while long-serving captain, Elliott Moore, was released and Owen Dale joined Plymouth Argyle.
Portsmouth
Portsmouth were pretty busy on deadline day. There was one outgoing, with Abdoulaye Kamara heading out on a free to Saarbrucken.
Meanwhile, Pompey signed Franco Umeh from Palace, goalkeeper Josef Bursik from Club Brugge, and St Johnstone striker Makenzie Kirk, as well as the return of Conor Chaplin to Fratton Park on loan from Ipswich Town.
Tom McIntyre then joined Bradford City in a late move.
Preston North End
It was a pretty good day for Preston North End. They started by bagging Harrison Armstrong on loan from Everton.
They were close to signing David Fofana from Chelsea, but that loan deal fell apart. A reunion with Tom Cannon also didn’t materialise in the end.
QPR
Until the very last minute, QPR did nothing apart from terminate Jack Colback’s contract. Then, in the dying moments of the window, they signed Swedish youngster Isak Alemayehu from Djurgärdens.
Sheffield United
The big story today for the Blades was whether Gus Hamer would join PSV Eindhoven or not. On the morning of deadline day we revealed Hamer wanted to leave. However, later in the day, we were told Sheffield United would block any move for Hamer.
Meanwhile, Alex Matos signed from Chelsea and as we mentioned earlier, Chiedozie Ogbene joined from Ipswich.
The Blades also got a last-minute deal sorted for Marc McGuinness from Luton Town and weren’t done there as they confirmed the arrival of experienced centre-back Ben Mee.
Sheffield Wednesday
What a summer it’s been for Sheffield Wednesday, and not the good kind. Amid financial chaos and transfer restrictions, we thought they’d never make a new signing today.
Jaden Heskey nearly arrived from Man City on loan, but the EFL blocked the move in the end. The Owls did finally land Harry Amass on loan from Man United, though.

Southampton
Only one signing on the day for Southampton, who did most of their business last week. On deadline day, they let Dom Ballard go to Leyton Orient on loan but did secure the capture of Leo Scienza from Heidenheim after he turned down Paris FC.
Stoke City
Another team that had a very quiet day, with Stoke City doing absolutely nothing on deadline day.
Swansea City
Swansea City needed to be busy on deadline day, and they did not disappoint.
Adam Idah signed from Celtic and they got Ishe Samuels-Smith on loan from Strasbourg.
Meanwhile, Joel Cotteril went on loan to Bristol Rovers and Ollie Cooper joined Wigan Athletic on loan.
Watford
Watford sent youngster Travis Akomeah on loan to Gillingham, and also signed two new players. Jeremy Petris arrived from Royal Charleroi, and late in the day, Formose Mendy joined from Lorient on loan.
West Brom
West Brom signed Samuel Iling-Junior on loan from Aston Villa, and then late on they also bagged Charlie Taylor on loan from Southampton.
Wrexham
Wrexham did not mess about in the transfer window, and they got plenty done on deadline day, too. Most prominently, Ben Sheaf officially signed from Coventry City in a £6.5m deal.
The Red Dragons might also land Dom Hyam from Blackburn Rovers, if a £2.7m deal was finalised in time. They also wanted to sign Issa Kabore, but again, no confirmation on that just yet.
In terms of outgoings, Wrexham sent both Tom O’Connor and Jacob Mendy to Peterborough on loan.
