Sheffield United have been aiming to strengthen their squad on transfer deadline day following their poor start to the Championship campaign, with the Blades identifying an Ipswich Town star as a player that could aid in that ambition.
The Blades lacked some dynamism up front against Middlesbrough as they struggled to create or trouble Rob Edwards’ side at the weekend.
A particular weakness in both their attack and defence was width, and Ruben Selles will have identified this Ipswich Town star as the perfect player to solve this problem.
The Spaniard may also turn to the fact that this incoming player has 24 international caps and that he will bring vital experience from the highest level to the Blades squad, as he looks to put the club’s poor start this season behind them after the international break.

Sheffield United sign Chiedozie Ogbene
It is understood that Sheffield United have signed the Republic of Ireland international Chiedozie Ogbene on loan from Ipswich Town for the duration of the season.
BBC Radio Sheffield first revealed that he has been given permission to travel to Yorkshire ahead of a temporary switch.
It was understood that Ogbene had been of interest to Championship rivals Leicester City and Wrexham too; however, he has opted to join Sheffield United for the campaign.

Kieran McKenna had confirmed at the weekend that a loan move for Ogbene was a possibility, and now it has come to pass.
He said: “There’s a possibility that Chieo, and it’s only a possibility, might go on loan.
“He’s coming back from a really, really big injury and has done terrific to get himself out there for us this year, but probably had to come into competitive games sooner than what would have been ideal.”

Stephen Kenny was a huge fan of Chiedozie Ogbene
The 28-year-old has become a favourite of Irish fans due to his performances in the green of his country, with the winger having a major impact under previous national manager Stephen Kenny.
Ogbene was always a threat under Kenny, with the former Republic of Ireland manager addressing this with the Northwich Guardian in March 2022.
He said: “No. I knew he would be a real threat for us and that he had great attributes, but it’s a spectacular start.
“To score three goals in two qualifiers and then a big game against the world number one team. Apart from his goals, he gives us so much at the moment.
“We ask some of the players to elevate their performances above their club form because that’s what we need to do. If we’re going to be competing with Belgium or Portugal or Serbia or any of those teams, we need our players to elevate their performances above what they can do even for their clubs playing for Ireland. That’s what we need them to do, and Chiedozie certainly is doing that.”
