Norwich City still retain the services of USMT striker Josh Sargent this summer, despite numerous Premier League clubs showing interest.
Josh Sargent has been outstanding ever since Norwich City’s relegation to the Championship, growing season on season in terms of his skill-set and his overall output.
| Sargent’s Championship seasons | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2022/23 | 41 | 13 | 2 |
| 2023/24 | 30 | 16 | 2 |
| 2024/25 | 33 | 15 | 5 |
| 2025/26 | 5 | 6 | 0 |
He has become an all-round centre-forward and Norwich’s Sargent is a ‘cheat code’ in many ways, having scored six goals in his first five games of the 2025/26 campaign in all competitions.

Sunderland register late Josh Sargent interest
Following talks, Sargent neared a £21 million move to VfL Wolfsburg at one stage but Sargent’s move to Wolfsburg fell through as they pulled out of the race.
It was a large fee, especially after there were other reports which stated Sargent is valued at around £18 million following Burnley’s interest at that stage of the summer.
However, there has been other interest from Leeds United in Norwich’s star man. They have had to field plenty of that from the German and English top flights in recent months.
The latest is that Pete O’Rourke reports Sunderland have explored a move for Norwich striker Sargent, but the twist is that they are now set to sign Ajax forward Brian Brobbey instead.
Interestingly, Newcastle United and Everton have looked at Sargent previously. The noise surrounding his future is particularly loud and Premier League interest is evidently plentiful.
Per an EFL Analysis exclusive, we revealed that Norwich are at huge risk with Sargent on deadline day. It’s a nervous 10 hours or so ahead for the Norwich fans regarding their star striker.

Manning said: “I’m hoping Ben (Knapper, Norwich’s director of football) turns his phone off so we don’t get any calls.
“Sarge role models everything you want. He’s a top person, a top professional. You see his work rate and how he leads by example. He’s top class.
“It’s a really tough place to come, you only have to look at the results here last year. We knew that and we showed a real fighting spirit.”
