Sheffield Wednesday set to sign ‘big talent’ Manchester United youngster as he is ‘undergoing a medical’

Sheffield Wednesday have been desperate for signings all summer to add to their squad, and on deadline day they have finally managed to achieve this goal.

The Owls have been linked to several moves on deadline day as they need reinforcements, with one of those being touted for a move to Sheffield Wednesday being Jaden Heskey.

This potential deal is only a loan move for Manchester City youth, with this being due to the current restrictions the club have upon them in the transfer market.

However, even adding players on loan a matter of weeks ago seemed out of the realms of possibility, so being linked to these players is a positive, and now they have managed to get their first player through the doors this deadline day.

Sheffield Wednesday set to sign Harry Amass

It has been reported by Pete O’Rourke on social media that Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign Manchester United youngster Harry Amass on a season-long loan.

The full-back is set to undergo a medical at the Owls, as Henrik Pedersen looks to add some quality to his squad before the close of the transfer market.

Amass made five appearances last season for Manchester United, and he is thought of highly at the club, and this loan move seems to be viewed as the perfect opportunity for him to get first-team experience this campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday fans will be pleased to know the way he likes to approach the game; while he may only be 18, he has an old-fashioned view when it comes to the art of defending by ensuring he goes in hard to win the ball.

This attitude is something that fans may love, as they are expected to be up against it this campaign, with Sheffield Wednesday the favourites for many to be relegated from the Championship.

Erik ten Hag is a fan of Harry Amass

While Erik ten Hag has not had a good deadline day, having been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen, with this potentially having a knock-on impact in the Championship, he has given Sheffield Wednesday fans an insight into how good Harry Amass could be for the Owls.

The Dutch manager seemed to love the youthful defender, as he brought him into the first-team squad to cover for the injured Luke Shaw at the time in August 2024.

Ten Hag explained his decision to the Guardian: “He is not that far along now [as Mainoo was] at this moment, but if we train him well, if we coach him well, then in three months it’s possible that he can be at that point.

“But in this moment he needs to catch up, and he has to develop some of the skills needed to play for Manchester United when we are competing for the highest position in the league.

“But with big talent it can go very quickly, and it is very interesting to see if he is capable of doing this.”
