Ipswich Town picked up their second point of the season on Sunday afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton.
Jay Robinson scored his first senior goal for the Saints to equalise on the half hour mark, after Taylor Harwood-Bellis had turned the ball into his own net to hand the hosts the lead at Portman Road after just four minutes.
Chuba Akpom was not involved for the Tractor Boys, allowing George Hirst to lead the line once again, a role that he proved his worth in once again. However, he was not able to get himself on the scoresheet.
Nevertheless, Kieran McKenna has been pursuing a deal for another striker this summer, and it looked as though Ivan Azon was set to join Ipswich. But, there is a major twist in the saga.

Ivan Azon’s move from Como to Ipswich Town is off
A deal between the Tractor Boys and Como was agreed ahead of the weekend, as per Diego Pico, with Cesc Fabregas, the manager of the Italian club, explaining that Azon was on his way to Suffolk to finalise a deal.

However, it has now emerged that the planned move is off and the 22-year-old Spaniard will not be making his way to the Championship on loan this summer.
Following the final whistle, McKenna confirmed this update. He said (via: EADT): “The deal hasn’t progressed. I won’t say anything other than that out of respect to all parties. He’s not a player we expect to join the club in this window.”
Azon is yet to play a game for Como since joining from Real Zaragoza in February, having played 150 times for the Spanish outfit before the move, scoring 27 times.
Cesc Fabregas will be pleased to keep hold of Ivan Azon
At 22, there is a bright future ahead for Azon and he will be keen to get guaranteed minutes at some stage this season.
However, Fabregas was not overly keen on the idea of the striker leaving Como in this transfer window, suggesting that he has a role to play in Serie A in 2025/26.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder said (via: Alfredo Pedulla): “Ivan Azon, I wanted to keep him, but this morning he made the trip to Ipswich. It’s a loan that is good for the club and for him, he will play in an important, difficult competition.
“It’s his choice. We have to wait, there are two weeks [of the transfer window] left.”
With his move to Ipswich now off, Azon has just 15 days to find his move before the transfer window slams shut on 1 September, and at this moment in time he may be left frustrated. However, for Fabregas, this could be the win he wanted.
